Unwind, by Neal Shusterman is a young adult dystopian novel. The novel is about 3 teens that got signed up for unwinding. Meaning that teens through the ages of 13-18 get dissected and their parts are given to others who need it. The three main characters run away to avoid getting caught by the police but they find some new friends and enemies along the way. In the novel Unwind, by Neal Shusterman, evil acts and relationships get routinized and normalized to the point of desensitization from the act of storking and unwinding. One of the evil acts that gets routinized and normalized is storking. Storking is the act of abandoning a newborn baby at the doorstep of a random person. This is an evil act because they are abandoning the child. The government does not care if they leave it at a person's doorstep as long as they don’t get caught. If they get caught then they are obligated to keep the baby. When someone storks their baby, there is a chance that the baby’s life is at risk. Unwinding is an evil act because the teens are basically being tormented slowly. Unwinding does not put them in a divided state but instead brings them to their death in a way. No matter the way it’s being put, it will always be a way of killing teens and using their body parts for people who need it. Unwinding is also a way to get rid of teens because of selfishness.
