Khushi Patel Period 2 Due date: April 19, 2018 Journal #1 In the first two scenes of Romeo and Juliet, we see Romeo is heartbroken over Rosaline, his "one true love". I would characterize Romeo as handsome, intelligent, a romantic, but very sensitive. Romeo is depressed and sad about Rosaline.
The second Romeo saw Juliet’s face, Romeo fell in love. This shows Romeo’s character. One hour ago he was grieving about Rosaline and right away he finds another girl. He fell in love to recover from his break up with Rosaline. After the two met, they wanted to get married right away even though their families hated each other.
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, is a tragedy play that is centered around the relationship of two teenagers. They are madly in love, but their family members prohibit them from establishing an easy relationship. Romeo, the male teenager, is the one who starts the relationship between the two. Romeo’s personality causes him to act quickly without much thought, thus moving the play along. The Nurse, who is Juliet’s caretaker, has impulsive behavior that greatly influences Juliet.
Romeo was deeply in love with Rosaline and wanted to be with her and get married. “For beauty starved with her severity…She is too fair, too wise, wisely too fair, to merit bliss by making me despair: She hath forsworn to love, and in that vow…” (Romeo and Juliet 1.1.210-214) Romeo thought that Rosaline was everything he was looking for. Rosaline on the other hand did not care for Romeo, or from what the play tells us. Romeo moved on past Rosaline at a party the Capulets were throwing. If Romeo had not moved onto Juliet many, if not all, characters would have still been alive.

In the streets of Verona, an ancient feud is reborn between the Capulets and Montagues. After coming to Capulet’s party uninvited, Romeo, the only son of Montague instantly forgets Rosaline, his previous love interest, as he sets eyes on the beautiful Juliet, the only daughter of the Capulets. The two secretly get married the next day, with the help of Friar Lawrence and Juliet's nurse. Many tragic events follow, which bring sadness, banishment, and finally, the death of six characters which sadly include our star crossed lovers.
