Spooky Story: Valley of the Dolls
Hello, I am Yui. There have been many stories about ghosts, but most of them are just rumors. My story actually happened, and it’s an experience I’ll never forget.
Before I moved to Osaka, my parents and I moved to a town called Nagoro in Shikoku Japan. I was about ten-years-old at the time, and my dad wanted to move saying he wanted a ‘small break’ from the city. On the day I was saying goodbye to my friends, they had told me rumors about the town and that it was haunted by ghosts. They joked that a ghost would find me and possess me, but I didn’t believe it. I did some research on the town. I read that the town was slowly shrinking, with a group of residents.
The trip was long and took several days, but when I finally got there, I was somewhat excited. There was a group of people at the entrance road, about ten. The group welcomed our family, and we all walked to our house, each carrying luggage. There were only two children there, they were twins, I think they were eleven at the time.
While on our way to the house, I had seen lots of people working on the fields, grandmother rocking in their chairs, and children playing on the playground.

It turns out the town actually had over thirty people. After the dinner party, I walked up to the landlady. "Do you need anything Yui?" she asked sweetly. "No, but can I ask you a question." "Why of course! Ask me anything." she replied. "Did you make the dolls?" "Why yes, I did! How did you find out?" she looked surprised. "The man at the bridge, your husband?". When I said this, she made a confused face expression. She was mumbling something about someone dying two years ago. Then my mom suggested we leave. Once we got home, my mom gave me a lecture about people having their own privacy and never talking about someone's dead loved
