In the article “Using Holistic and Ethical Practices with Emotional Support Animal Requests” written by Leslie Stewart, Timothy Hakenewerth, Peter Rabinowitz, and Heather Fowler, although the guidelines and differentiating factors between service animals and emotional support animals are unclear, the text in which you receive these facts, should be incredibly clear. In this case, the article proposes that emotional support animals should not be considered service animals and should be prohibited in public areas. Whether the text promotes or degrades ESAs (Emotional Support Animals), the text should be reliable, credible, accurate, current, and have a purpose in its preaching. Stewart is clear when she says “ESAs are not service animals and
Madison Bumgarner Mrs. Gallos English III Honors 22 March 2018 Is Your Service Dog Legally Certified? Even though many people believe emotional support dogs are considered service dogs and should have the same rights as the others, owners of service dogs are treated unfairly because of the increase in numbers of fake service dogs. This affects the ability for one to use a service dog to its full potential. People cannot be asked to leave a public place if the business thinks it is a fake dog because some service dogs are simply under-trained. The population of those using fake service dogs or emotional support animals are ruining the ability for the disabled to use them without being questioned.
Statistics are often seen in the media, and use by various groups to act as factual information that scientifically backs the claims of the group, or so they say. There have been many accounts of statistics misused or misrepresented. As seen in the article “Nine out of ten Statistics are taken out of Context,” the statistics used in medical testing on animals has often been taken out of context and misrepresented by several different animal rights groups. It does not come as a surprise that a group opposed to a practice would use whatever data they can to further their position. Saying that something is 90% ineffective and thus should not be used is a fairly impressive number to have on your side.
Did you know that diabetes service animals can smell a person's breath and blood? This allows them to recognize if their owners blood sugar is too high or too low. This can be a good tool for people whose blood sugar drops very fast. Service animals benefit a person’s life by allowing their owners to have someone around at all times, getting their owners moving, and helping owners with everyday tasks.
The event I volunteer was at Scaregrove. I was helping out with the admission in the late evening shift. Scare grove is an annual event and is the most atmospheric Halloween event around, it is popular for older kids and teens for its frightening haunted house. There’s haunted house, jumpy house, live music and magic shows, carnivals rides and games throughout the wood, and crafts. Every year, this time around San Francisco Recreation & Parks have this Halloween event to celebrate this once a year holiday with the community.
Attention Getter: Imagine living on the streets, constantly looking for your next meal and never knowing the feeling of companionship. This is the life of stray animals. Credibility Statement: No one really knows how many stray animals roam the streets, but it is predicted that there are more than 70 million stray cats in the United States alone. Central Idea (Proposition): By adopting pets from the American Humane Society or other rescue shelters, we can reduce the amount of stray animals on the streets.
“Only 5 more days until Halloween”, screamed Abigail. I can not wait until it is Halloween because I feel like it is going to be one of the best ones yet. My brother, Adam and I had made plans to carve a pumpkin because I have wanted to do one for a long time. I asked my mom, Caroline, when we could carve one and she said,”You can do some today only if you finish your homework.” Ok I said and I better get started on my homework.
We all may have thought about volunteering at an animal shelter at one point in our lives not knowing about the benefits it would give. Though some may argue that animal shelters already have the help they need, animal shelters are always in need of help and are thankful to those who give it. Animals would get a better chance at adoption, you will get to know their personalities and help them get adopted, and improve your emotions and health through volunteer work. If we were to volunteer at an animal shelter then we would have given the animals we helped a better chance at adoption. A well groomed, healthy, and well trained pet has more of a chance at being adopted than a wild, dirty, stray pet.
Millions of lives just as innocent as the most generous child; Trapped in the barriers we know as cages, that they know as Hell; Too many lives for humanity to just be a bystander. Each and every day is filled with a million moments and opportunities for us to take a stand and make a change. Animal shelters around the world are constantly filling with new animals; it is simply too much for the small amounts of staff on their own to make sure every animal gets the love they deserve, as well as making sure the shelter is kept tidy and operating. Animal shelters need us, young and old, even if only for an hour. That small span of time can make the world for them; volunteering assures that animals will get daily love, lowers full-time staff stress,

Alejandra Jimenez Ms. Sickler English 10 January 26, 2018 Animal Cruelty Animal Cruelty, also known as animal abuse, is the deliberate act of violence towards animals. It has been reported that animal abuse can lead to domestic abuse. Animal cruelty is linked to an increase in both violence and crime. Animals used for entertainment and gaming purposes are forced to partake in events and actions.
Why do people abuse animals? Why do people neglect animals? Why do people make animals starve? Imagine having millions of animal hides in your own backyard. Because of animal abuse.
