There has always been tough competition between companies that produce similar products. Companies like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have been competing for years now to prove that they are the best. Of course, the only way to know which one is best is to try each one out. With the help of advertising, Verizon convinces cell phone users that its company is the best by using boastful facts and statistics, insulting endorsers, and poorly exercised humor. The purpose of this advertisement is to tell cell phone owners across the world, specifically those who pay the phone bills, that Verizon is the best. Even in the first line of the advertisement the company says that it is “The most awarded network ever.” Jamie Foxx then says that after an independent study was done again, Verizon still has the most awards in the nation. Another thing that Jamie Foxx tells phone owners is that Verizon is, “Ranked number one nationally in data, reliability, text, and call and speed.” In this quote, it is the company’s way of boasting while also slandering the other companies, and doing it right in front of their faces. However, despite Verizon’s claim to be number one in each category, the graphs of the study’s results show that AT&T actually receives the number one spot for texting (Andersen.) Verizon picked Jamie Foxx to tell people the facts because it knows that he is a well-known actor. Being that he is a famous actor, the company has the advantage because if people see that a famous actor uses a company like Verizon, it will sell to those who are not customers of them and like the actor. The emphasis on “Jamie Foxx from Verizon” in the first few words makes the viewer put Verizon with him.
