Throughout history there have been many Queens. All over the world, many monarchies had an influence on their people. Such was the same during the 19th century in Hawaii. Before the United States took over, was Queen Liliuokalani. Queen Liliuokalani may be called a hero if we define the term as a person who, endowed with extraordinary qualities of heart and mind, determined to achieve a near impossible goal to restore monarchy powers and succeeds in the face of serious opposition against the United States.
1 - HUsh They 're a clothing brand targeted at women of most age ranges who like fashion but aren 't a slave to it, who wish to look good but don 't want to invest ages doing this, who wish to be comfortable however, not at the trouble of style. They also believe that feeling good is really as important an integral part of looking good as the other way around, so they always walk out their way to place a laugh on that person through those little details that basically do change lives to all of the days. Not only that, if one has seen the movie Pretty Woman, this scene might look a little familiar with the ending scene on the fire escape with her amorous fantasy coming to fruition. It has a fresh, modern twist to it, making it easier for viewers to relate to the topic of love. This ad stars Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl and model Tommy Dunn.
The historical figures that I have chosen to research are Anna Pavlova and Doris Humphry. My research over this past summer has influenced me to choose these two women who both started from humble means and rose up to become pioneers in their respective fields. Both Humphry and Pavlova came from humble beginnings but felt an undeniable pull towards dance and made vast strides in their field. Anna Pavlova, a Russian born ballerina came from poverty and became one of the biggest faces of ballet as it is known today. She was born to unmarried laundress Lyubov Feodorovna in St. Petersburg, Russia, and was formally adopted by her stepfather, Matvey Pavlo.

Beginning in the 1960’s, we see an influx of new graphic styles, art directed at integrating ‘pop’ culture or mass media. In the U.S. or Europe, it may be common for an artist to use this medium for their own expression, or perhaps if a graphic artist is hired to complete work for an advertisement, product, or an event; however, hardly do these two mentalities intertwine. Tadanori Yokoo has found that this is not the case for him. His vibrant expression of concepts, colors, and motifs have gathered appreciation by a wide array of commissioners. During the 1960s, the value of beauty and physical appeal unexpectedly increased during political debates. Several graphic designers recognized this new appreciation and used magazine covers and other forms of communication to portray its significant growth in America. In the year of 1968, art director and designer George Lois created an iconic cover for Esquire magazine’s May issue (Figure 1). Crafted as a photomontage, the cover features Richard E. Nixon getting prepped and pampered by several beauticians while resting with his eyes close. Using Lois’s famous Esquire cover as a case study, I will research how graphic designers epitomized the new power of beauty and its influence on many Americans’ views of important political figures.
As music continues to metamorphose with the constant changes that we undergo in society, none may not be as prevalent as in the fourteenth century with the development of Ars Nova. Now, thus far in our understanding in Music History, we have covered many topics of medieval music, ranging from plainchant and the usage of neumes, tropes and the embellishments of previous music, and most recently Ars Antiqua. With Ars Antiqua, which was the period of Notre Dame Polyphony, it applied many additions to the plainchants with organum, such as Florid Organum and Discant Organum, as well as the use of motets, which added new text to the upper voice. However, the transition from Ars Antiqua to Ars Nova brings about drastic changes that impacts the music
