Vincent Van Gogh was an exceptional and uncommon man. Born in 1853, he grew up as the son of a minister in beautiful south Holland. Being famous for large, striking windmills and fields of beautiful flowers, like tulips; it is only imaginable what kind of inspiration Holland invokes. He was an odd child, preferring to keep to himself and simply look at things rather than play with the children. He often found himself staring at the large fields and the bugs and animals surrounding him. Having not thought about these things in the moment, they would soon be the inspiration for some of his loveliest paintings. His production of art almost eerily similar to how it reflects his life. From a slow beginning, figuring out his path in life, to jumping into being an artist and having it be the only thing he did, the only other thing on his mind being pain and resentment fed into his creations. All of his feelings that he’s accumulated suddenly began to have an outlet. He created hundreds and hundreds of paintings of beautiful rooms, flowers, scenery, and portraits fueled by his depression and imagination. He turned something miserable into something beautiful. Despite him being my personal favorite, he has a distinct impact on the world, making his artwork still popular today. His art is the first to not associate an image with a thing. In art, most objects that are drawn or painted, when you see them, you think of the object itself. Van Gogh created a whole new style of art within himself. Instead of his paintings showing an object, they show emotion and how the object made him feel. He paints in a way that makes you think about why he felt how he did. His art makes you curious. There are millions of different emotions that his work can provide the viewer. I believe that the reason his paintings because so popular after his death, still to this day, is because your feelings and actions become more interesting and important when you are dead. It is said you have to be dead to be remembered in this world and the statement carries true.
