Andy Warhol was a famous American filmmaker, painter, and photographer who was born on August 6th, 1928 and died on February 22nd. Warhol first started his art career with illustrations for magazines and ads. From there Warhol began to explore many different kinds of art, from painting to photography and had success with most. As well as illustrations and painting, Warhol also explored digital art such as filmmaking and video installations. Soon after Warhol's first appearance in the art community, he became famous for the quality of his works. Andrew Warhola was born to his Slovakian parents who immigrated to the united states. Vitus’ dance, at times he would be left bedridden for up to seven months. During these times, Andrew's mother, also a skilled artist, would give him drawing lessons. It was around this time where Andy Warhol fell in love with art. Warhol was also a fan of movies, when he was nine years old, he got his first camera and began to experiment with photography, developing a makeshift darkroom in their basement. He attended Holmes elementary school and eventually went on to take free art courses at the Carnegie Institute. Warhol was hindered greatly as a child with the passing of his father, dying only when Warhol was 14 years of age. With much of his art centered around pop culture icons, his art was said to have celebrated his his passion for fame and money. Before he died, he wrote about his apparent contradiction between his life and work in his book The Philosophy of Andy Warhol, writing that "making money is art and working is art, and good business is the best art." At the time of his death, Warhol had a net worth of roughly 220 million U.S. dollars, making him one of Americas most successful artists
