In 2007, I, along with a few of my peers, founded the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild as a way to give back to our community. Since then, this nonprofit organization has raised thousands of dollars that has gone to support uncompensated care at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Throughout my middle school and high school years, I have been very involved with this group. When I had the opportunity to choose a service placement for this year, I immediately knew I would be doing my service through the Little Lemon Drop Jr. Guild because of my previous involvement with the guild and my passion for the cause the guild supports.
Currently i 'm still writting this stories ' intermission chapter, but i do doubt enough people will be donating until i 'm done! Anyway. Please donate. It will make me a little less sad.
One of the organizations I am proud to donate to is the United Service Organizations, or USO. Since 1941, the USO has supported troops at home and abroad. With the intent to lift the spirits of troops and their family members, the organization endeavors to provide a “home away from home” feeling for all the families dealing with the rigors of serving overseas. The organization became famous for its Camp Shows over the years--with some occurring in active war zones. To make this all possible, the USO relies heavily on private donations.
My mother has worked for Children’s Mercy for nine years, and it has been a huge blessing to hear about all of the wonderful things that Children’s Mercy does for our community. As a result of Children’s Mercy being a not for profit hospital, their funding must come from sources outside of their patients. One of the biggest fundraisers that Children’s Mercy conducts is called The Big
Brytny Sharpe, RN at the VA hospital today and she stated, “one challenge we are currently facing is financial issues.” There isn’t enough funding for every program that the VA offers and sometimes it just can’t be avoided. There is money for medical research but not enough to remove those who are HIV positive in the late stage from general population without making them stand out like cold sores on the lip. We have federal funding and donations pouring in but we still need more.
I felt fortunate to have attended the session with Bonnie, an epitome for an ideal hospice care provider. She demonstrates an ability to connect anyone in personal level and with full attention; thereby, making both the recipients and their family feel cared. As she shared her experience, it was reflected that she made sure the care is provided to the patients spiritually; and other needs are also taken care of. Bonnie joined hospice care after realizing the previous career of a social worker was not fulfilling. It was inspiring that she reflected it is never too late to change a career trajectory.
That’s why it makes perfect sense to expand and reconstruct the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) to undertake such a massive service. Veterans don’t deserve to be treated like this, the forgotten hero’s, now the homeless, and the starving.

After the sudden loss of my oldest brother in 2011, my life changed in the blink of an eye. While trying to overcome this heartbreaking experience was one of the most challenging things ever faced with, his death soon turned into a true inspiration to me. Not only do I cherish all the memories I was able to share with him over the years, I soon came to realization that tomorrow is not a promise to anyone and to live life to the fullest. Introduction The hope for this research essay is to try to implement and understand the role of democracy in the case of the Korean War. Sometimes, we would have people come to our home for treatments as well. Our home had become a place of healing for the broken, both literally and metaphorically. Our home had being set apart from many others. I learnt the importance of love, care, and support. My first opportunity personally interacting with patients was after I became a certified nursing assistant (CNA); I took a job at a Skilled Nursing Home called York land Park.
This clinical experience has really helped me to sharpen my communication skills and realize just how important it is to understand mental health. We are told multiple times in class that mental health issues can be seen on any floor and that is the truth. I’ve seen patients in my older adult clinical on the pulmonary floor suffer from issues that range from anxiety to bipolar disorder and depression. Being able to understand how to approach people that suffer from these types of illnesses, allows us, the nurses, to give the patient the best care that we can. It helps to build a trusting relationship and get to know them on a personal level.
