In introduction, the three major ethicists in the history of man have succeeded in drafting different theories that actually help to tell us what to do when faced with an ethical dilemma such as the one I presented above. In the past, I have been applying Virtue theory in almost all moral ethical dilemma situations I face, but due to the complexity of the ethical dilemma I chose in unit 7 assignment, I would analyze the views of Consequentialists, Virtue, and Deontologists ethicists in order to know if it is morally right for a mother to abort a fetus in the course of pregnancy in any given society.

The consequentialists are of the opinion that an action taken by any human being is considered good or bad, only if the consequences of that action will not stand in the way of that individual living a desired fulfilled life. (Floyd, n.d).
Therefore, in view of rationalizing if abortion should be permitted by a mother, a consequentialist would be of two opinions : they would ask about the consequences of allowing and not allowing abortion, to be specific, they would want to know what produces the greatest good to the ones in the center stage (the mother and the fetus). Their only concern, then, would be whether or not aborting a fetus produces more or less desired happiness or fulfilment after it is done. If it produces less harm and more fulfilment, then it is worth being done, but if it produces more harm, and likely to stand in the way of the ones in the center stage to attain life fulfilment, then it doesn’t worth being …show more content…

Hence, based on these two reasons, a consequentialist would say ‘yes’ to abortion, because it brings good consequences and overall wellbeing of the people
