Spongebob, the visual effects in Ghostbusters, and the teary eyed scenes in Disney movies were all created by multimedia artists. Most people do not think about the ones behind the scenes they just see the product of their work. Their creative minds, hard work, late nights and weekends, and greatly deserved paychecks are all part of the circle of animation. It all starts with an idea; someone has a spark of creativity and thinks of something like a sponge living in a pineapple underwater. That idea then gets drawn, animated ,and perhaps becomes one of the best cartoons known to man. Creating scenes in movies like ,for example, when Mufasa died in The Lion King is the main job of a multimedia artist and animator (“Multimedia Artists”para.11). Digitally creating multiple ,well drawn, images and putting them together so it looks like they are moving is what theses artists do (“Animators”para.4). Cartoons are not the only thing they can make. These artists can also create graphics and visual effects for TV shows, video game graphics, and also product labels for advertising (“Animators”para.3). Most people in this career have a specific medium they draw. Things like characters, backgrounds, and visual effects (“Multimedia Artists”para.12). When actually creating things like animation there is more than one way to do it. They can use computer software and draw it directly on there or they can write their own computer code (“Multimedia Artist”para.7) Drawing the animation by hand or painting it is also a option; they can simply scan the piece into the computer (“Multimedia Artist”para.8). Before the final project it is easier for the artist to create a storyboard or use one someone else created as a map of sorts (“Multimedia Artists”para.11). These artists do not do everything alone most of the time they edit others work and often get guidance from directors (“Multimedia Artists”para.11). It is really common for a group of multimedia artist to work together. When they do work together the work is usually split up and one person does a specific part of the project like the background ,if they specialize in backgrounds (“Multimedia Artists”para.14).
