Voldemort: From an Orphan to Murderer Lord Voldemort or Tom Riddle has been one of the most evil characters of the literature. He is known for his pure-wizard obsession, killing without hesitation to achieve his great aim and apart from that, getting pleasure by the act of killing. Of course, it is open to debate if it was the circumstances that turned him into evil or did he contained that evil soul in him regardless of the misadventures he had. Another matter of debate is that is it an excuse for anyone to turn into evil and hurt other people. In order to trace the path that brought Voldemort from Tom Riddle to Lord Voldemort, character must be reviewed from the very beginning, that is to say the childhood of Voldemort. 1. Birth and Early Life of Tom Riddle Tom Riddle is the son of Tom Riddle Sr. and Merope Gaunt, who was a descendant of Salazar Slytherin. Merope Gaunt was a Squib, in other words a wizard born person who does not have magical abilities. She was in love with the Tom Riddle Sr. who was a muggle but he did not love Merope back. She managed to marry Tom Riddle Sr. by giving him love potions and eventually she got pregnant. She stopped giving the potion, thinking that he might be actually in love with her but he immediately left Merope. She was depressed and sold everything she had for a living.
