Reading "Superman and Me" gave me conflicting feelings. Of course, the tale of a young boy striving to succeed in and environment where he is nearly required to fail is thrilling, yet it really makes you think of the environment itself. He was a young Indian child living on a reservation; however, he recognized that he was an intelligent person. Others around him tried to quiet him because Indian children were supposed to be dumb. Sherman Alexie wanted more out of life.
The story of his life in “Superman and me” by, Sherman Alex, expressed deeply of himself on how dedicated and content he was during his youthful life. As a young impecunious Indian boy, he grew up on the sides of Eastern Washington state following the path of his father’s dedication in the love of reading and writing. He self taught his way up to be an overachiever reader by constantly reading everything he saw in sight. Later in life, acting as a life saver, he taught those who lacked in reading and writing. He’s proud and prudent to this day, leading those who are inspired by his novels, poems and short stories.

Sherman Alexie shared how his childhood of reading helped him become a better reader and a leader for others. He first read a Superman comic and then went on to bigger and better books. Alexie explains that in his Native American reservation it’s okay for children not to excel in school.
Did you know that the United States ranks 17th in education performance? That is a huge drop from 1980 when the United States was ranked 1st. Clearly, our education system has gone in a downward spiral and is struggling to keep up with other countries. The documentary, “Waiting for Superman” by David Guggenheim, and the article, “Idiot Nation” by Michael Moore, discuss the weaknesses in our education system. Although both authors offer compelling arguments, “Waiting for Superman” contained a better argument because of its abundance of rhetorical strategies, whereas “Idiot Nation” contained some logical fallacies.
In the text, “Superman and Me,”One main quote that explains everything you need to know about this article is when Sherman Alexie says, “I wasrefused to fail. I was smart. I was lucky.” Many people that have read this choose to believe that this quote is just an irritating repetition of how he felt about himself, however, closer examination shows that it actually develops his main claim and central idea, refines his claims, and shows the purpose of this text all in one quote. Alexie was a young, Indian boy who just wanted to know how to read in write in the aspiration of becoming emotionally closer to his father because he loved him so.
In the essay, “Superman and Me” by Sherman Alexie, the author uses an extended metaphor to compare himself to the comic book superhero,Superman. The extended metaphor develops in a way that is similar to Alexie developing. Alexie does not have literal, “alien” qualities but, he demonstrates strange actions in the eyes of his society and peers, just like Superman.
In Superman and Me by Sherman Alexie, Alexie’s father’s love for books grew to make his self-love books ending up in Alexie teaching himself how to read. Alexie describes the stereotypes and what is expected of Indian children and how Indian children were expected to basically have no knowledge Many lived up to those expectations inside the classroom but invalidated them on the outside. While other children were doing this, Alexie’s father was one of the few Indians on the reservation who went to Catholic School on purpose and was also an devoted reader. Alexie grew up around books. His father had a strong love for books as he bought them by the pound from pawn shops, goodwill and the salvation army.
Waiting on Superman follows the struggles of Anthony, Francisco, Bianca, Daisy, and Emily, where Emily is the only white student from a well funded suburban neighborhood (Guggenheim). The others come from communities where “failure factories” are common. Because of financial burdens, most of them cannot attend a private school so they rely on charter schools to get good educations (Guggenheim). Their cases exhibit the disproportionate rate at which good schools are available for their differing neighborhoods. The film only shows only two are accepted to their perspective charter schools;
Gifted with incredible endurance and super strength, the ability of flight, and an impeccable moral compass, Superman is the quintessential superhero that Americans of all ages have admired and looked up to since his conception in 1938. In Brad Bird’s 1999 feature animation The Iron Giant, the fifty-foot metal protagonist is no exception. Hiding out in a barn, he peers at an issue of the Superman comic book like an amused child with his eyes wide and mouth agape. His closest human companion, nine-year old Hogarth, sits before the giant and explains to him, “Sure, he’s famous now, but he started off just like you! Crash landed on Earth…he only uses his powers for good, never for evil.”
For one day the city of San Fransisco is transformed into Gotham bringing the world of people together to fill the 5 year old leukemia patient, Miles, wish of being Bat Kid. The Documentary Film, "Bat Kid Begins," gives the audience a fun excitement through the different live action events Batman and his partner Bat kid have to go through in order to save the people in the city. The documentary is a heart warming film showing the positive impact social media .can have when used in a well mannered way, and the difference others can make.

He began teaching himself to read and other things at a very young age. What he learned to read with was actually a superman comic book. The heroic vibe is definitely well used throughout the story. You can look at many different quotes in the story that would do the heroic vibe justice, but this one in particular sticks out; “I throw my weight against their locked doors.
Superhero comics contain many conventions such as morals, a motive, extraordinary superpowers, a back story, and so on. Batman and Superman are a couple of superheroes from a wide variety of superhero comics. Both of them try to protect mankind from any hurt, harm, or danger that may come. A similarity between both of these superheroes is that they want justice in the world. With so much crime and torture going on in the world, mankind looks for a higher power to help stop it.
The film that will be analysed is ‘The Dark Knight’ which is a drama/ crime film directed by Christopher Nolan, which was released on the 16th of July 2008. The director is trying to convey good vs evil through Lighting, sound, props, costumes, setting, camera angles and camera shots. The main characters in ‘The Dark Knight’ are Batman/ Bruce Wayne (Christen Bale), Harvey Dent/ Two-face (Aaron Eckhart), Joker (Heath Ledger), Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) and Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman). The scenes which will be investigated are Wayne’s party, the SWAT car chase and Jokers interrogation.
there 's one topic that gets a lot of attention lately in the media,its driverless cars. According to the Centers for Disease Control, fatalities from traffic incidents happen on an annual basis upwards of 33,000 people. Many of these accidents are preventable, and an alarming number of them are a result of distracted driving. In the past few years, as a result of the number of traffic accidents plaguing the country and the devastating injuries and fatalities that result from them, a greater push has been made in the sphere of technology to make cars safer, drivers more aware, and accidents less likely.
