Waiting for Superman features six kids, that all have educational obstacles to overcome. Focusing on Daisy from Los Angeles, who out of the six kids, probably has the strongest dedication and motivation towards her own education, already knows she wants to be a doctor or nurse. She even wrote a letter to a college admission office, hoping to set herself apart from all the other students, showing her strong interest in succeeding. She works extremely hard to keep her grades up in order to graduate in a school where 57% of students probably won't graduate. Her school is the worst one of many that are considered “dropout factories” across the country. Going from school to school showing the featured kids waiting to hear their names heard, the video allows the viewer to put themselves in their position. As the camera zooms in on the kids fidgeting with their number cards, or staring at the spinning lottery ball, you get equally as anxious waiting and hoping to hear their numbers called. The purpose of the emotional music and camera angles is to understand the feeling of a strong, unconditional desire the kids and parents in that video have for a good education at a better school. The tragic look on the faces of Bianca, Francisco's mom, Daisy and her dad, and anthony, are focused on after the lottery is over with, making you feel guilty for taking the tremendous education system we have. When Daisy, who so badly wants to attend college and become a doctor doesn't get called to attend KIPP LA, she looks directly into the camera for a second, before putting her head down in disappointment. This camera angle creates an immense amount of empathy for Daisy because we too want a deserving, great education for her. The last cartoon shown, is superman saving kids from a bus traveling on a cliff, I believe the video is wrapped up with this because the kids featured in this video were waiting for their superman to save them from falling of the cliffs along with their failing
