Wall Drug, one of the most well-known tourist attractions in South Dakota is popular for its free ice-cold water and ice cream. This store is located in Wall, South Dakota. This is no ordinary store, it includes 28 different retail stores. It contains various shops such as a gift shop, drug store, jewelry store, and if you get hungry there is a restaurant. They believed that Wall, South Dakota was in the middle of nowhere and it was in a time of the Great Depression and people were poor, so it wouldn’t benefit them. They were aware that people did not have a lot of money, but they believed that they could use their talents and make their business successful. Around 30 years later, Wall Drug reached its high point. Bill Hustead, Teds son, graduated from South Dakota State University with a pharmacy degree and went on to help his dad with his business in 1951. This helped Ted’s business out a lot with the drug store portion of it. This turned out to be a huge success. After Ted died, his son took over the business. Behind Wall Drug holds several other attractions. These attractions include photo-ops, such as a furry rabbit, a model of Mount Rushmore, and a jackalope.
