Publix has increased from a single store to over 1,077 supermarkets with over 160,000 associates. They are continuously hailed as the number one supermarket for customer satisfaction and one of Fortune’s 100 and 500 best companies to work for. With continuous growth, it is important to evaluate their legal and ethical policies (“We Are Publix”, n.d.). Publix values their employees and indicate their employees are the company. Their Human Resource Representatives ensure their ethical policy is monitored by assisting in defining standards for the delivery of phenomenal customer service.
Furthermore, Publix began offering many exclusive products and services such as Boars Head Deli Meats, and select stores offers Starbucks Café. Today, Publix currently has over 1,100 stores in 8 states along the east coast, of the United States. For instance, the states include Alabama, The Carolinas, Tennessee, and Virginia to name a few. The company has also drive-thru pharmacy and grocery delivery as exclusive services as well (Publix Supermarkets, Inc., 2017). Publix Supermarkets has no ethical system.
Within this essay I’m going to discuss the Organizational ethic of the company that I’m currently employed with Tyson Foods. The brand I’m going to discuss is Hillshire brands which was a large company itself that was bought out by Tyson foods in 2014. Organizational ethics are the principals and standards by which businesses operate. They are demonstrated through the acts of fairness, compassion, integrity, honor and responsibility. The key for the companies managers and executives to ensure that all employees understand these ethics.
Home Depot is a multi-million dollar industry, with over 2,000 stores around the world. They supply contractors with tools and products to build a house or supply Do-It-Yourselfers with home and business improvements. But with all the good Home Depot has done, they have their faults too. Home Depot has faced job cuts, ethical violations and the mistreatment of their customers. When a person hears job cuts, they assume that the reason for the job cuts is downsizing.
Core Values and Ethical Principles The six core values recognized by the NASW Code of Ethics are: service, social justice, dignity and worth of person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence (NASW, 2008). These values are defined and expanded upon, and are then listed as ethical principles. Several of these principles apply to this case.
Costco has built a reputation of being a caring corporation1 with a low cost structure in the discount services sector. Their founder, Jim Sinegal, believed in building a business on strong ethics while offering a wide selection and great value. Costco’s vision is expressed in its code of ethics which contains five key tenets by which the company operates: Obey the law, take care of our members, take care of our employees, respect our suppliers & reward our shareholders.2 With this vision Costco has built the third largest retailor in the United States. By looking closely at the code of ethics it becomes possible to see it has built in strengths and weaknesses.
The NASW Code of Ethics provides social work practitioners with resources for ethical decision making, serving as a guide to professional code of conduct. The Code of Ethics is divided into four sections, which summarize the profession’s mission and values, an overview of the Code’s main functions which includes a guide for dealing with ethical issues and dilemmas, and it provides ethical principles which are based on the core values that inform practice (NASW, 2008). The NASW provides resources and useful information when faced with ethical decision making, such as ethics consultation. Introduction In this extended essay, I will try to answer the research question “To what extent is Corporate Social Responsibility part of Arm Makers Companies? An assessment and evaluation of Raytheon’s and Northrop Grumman’s Business ethics”. Weapon companies face the issue of being socially responsible as it is a global matter. The implementation and education of the ethical decision-making model promote moral awareness and company values that can mitigate ethical dilemmas to an extent. The aftermath was devastating for Wells Fargo not just economically but for its image. The corporation can introduce this model in training courses for new hires and current employees. Wells Fargo unethical practices demonstrates unethical behavior, under deontological ethical theories as its employees duty to operate in an honest and fair fashion , in providing services to the public. Wells Fargo codes of conduct does not permit sales practices of these sort, therefore the employees who participated in these practices made unethical decisions. Unfortunately there was a wrong-doing on a massive scale. The acts of unethical behavior were conducted by both the employees and management.

Introduction The key ethical issues that were presented in this case study were quality control, lack of customer care, responsiveness, and harming the customer. The Johnson and Johnson case may have been seen as a turning point due to many things the company did right.
