For example, the description of the Fashionista Barbie doll represents the toy as “so sweet” and “petite” (“Barbie Fashionistas Doll Style So Sweet,” n.d.) This advertisement labels girls as necessarily obsessed with their style, loving the pink color and being fragile. When I was a child, my parents bought me gender-based toys especially the ones marketed for boys. This is because I loved car toys. Unfortunately, as a child, I was not in a position to determine the gender stereotypes when it came to toys and was happy with whatever kind of toy my parents purchased for me.

The benefit of utilizing these toys provided me with an opportunity to learn individual cognitive skills and critical thinking, which helped me, develop a competitive mindset. It also made me become an action-oriented and an avid thrill seeker. I have always thrived in getting ahead and taking risks as an adult in achieving my end goal.
