Introduction This paper is an assessment of Walt Kowalski’s strengths and weaknesses in biological, psychological, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural dimensions. Theories will be used to describe Walt Kowalski. Description of Walk Kowalski Walt Kowalski is an American man who currently lives in Michigan, Detroit. He is a Korean War veteran, a father of two sons, and has recently become a widow after 50 years of being married to his wife. His neighborhood has been taken over by Asian immigrants and gang violence. Walt’s neighbors are Asian Americans, known as the Hmong’s. It seems to be a challenge for Walt to accept the diversity in his community. He has a tendency to use harsh racial slurs against his neighbors. He also hates the cultural …show more content…

This unhealthy lifestyle that Walt is now living has led him to have a weak immune system. His health is slowly declining which is causing him to cough up blood. Walt previously served in the army and was a part of the Korean War. The experience that he had during the war is a possible cause for the failure of his health. Walt has a weakness of staying away from smoking and drinking. Both smoking and drinking has destroyed his lungs. With the trouble that he is having with his lungs, it makes it hard for Walt to breathe. He tends to run out of breathe quickly due to the lack of oxygen. His mental functioning tells him to smoke and drink when he feels frustrations. Walt drinks and smokes daily even when he is not feeling depressed or stressed, because it is a habit for him to indirectly take actions. Walt’s coping skills are negative aids that will not benefit his health. Walt does not consider his health issues as a problem. He continues to use harmful aids to relief grief and pain. Walt can turn to confessions with father Janovich, but he denies attending any confessions. There is no strong support to prevent Walt from bad coping
