The conflicts that drew the United States into the war of 1812 arose from the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic wars. Although the war was between France and Great Britain, American was still greatly impacted and their interests were tremendously injured. The two countries blocked the United States from trading with each other out of fear that the U.S. would send supplies to the enemy country and help them with the war.
