Origins of this Facility: In Morris Plains New Jersey the “Greystone Parks Psychiatric Hospital” is located. This facility goes as far back as 1876 in which this facility was operated from an older building and under different circumstances. Never-the-less this facility became over crowed, housing 7000 consumers and employing 14 000 staff members. During this period, patients were free to walk around the facility and patients who were in the “backward wards” were more symptomatic.

This facility accommodates persons with HIV / AIDS, women, seniors / older adults, military families, and veterans. Their Primary focus is Substance Abuse Treatment.
The Foundation is looking at organizations that collaborate and strengthen systems of care. Preference is given to Baltimore, MD communities for the veterans. Eligible organizations are committed to mental health and the elimination of barriers, have the ability to demonstrate long term outcomes. The eligible organization must have an (501)( c )(3) and has existing services for veterans. I am confident this RFP is worth pursuing because the grant proposal includes the organizations eligibility and demonstrates various preferences aligned with the Foundation and the goals of grant seeker (Ward, 2012).
Elyn Saks is a very accomplished woman. She has managed to become a published author and an esteemed college professor while suffering from schizophrenia. Her book, The Center Cannot Hold discusses her life as she fought and eventually managed her mental illness. Saks lived a normal childhood with caring parents, but she does recall having several phobias and obsessions when she was younger that were not healthy or normal in their longevity. As Saks matured, her schizophrenic episodes worsened.

n order to eliminate disparities in mental healthcare for Latinos, Researchers have to first document the scope of disparities, recognize factors and processes that cause Latinos mental health disparities in care. Then, mental health services and policies apply this data to develop and implement interventions aimed at eliminating the trends in care. In other words, by achieving this endeavor, policymakers and mental health services must be informed by research because research can provides best available evidences, documents specific trends in care, produce valuable information about the pathways that have the potential to reduce disparities, explains why and how the inequities occur, and how to deliver high quality mental health care
I am surrounded by darkness, confined in a paltry room its contents limited to a bed with a thin mattress and pillow. The air is dense and smells of blood. The brown walls smothered in writing reek of mulch. The only way to get in or out is through a small metal door that is locked from the outside. I feel like a caged animal, my every move being watched.
There are so many mentally ill people in correctional facilities because most families do not know how to help their loves ones who suffer from a mental illness, so the call the police for help. Majority of the police officers do not know what to do or how to handle people with a mental illness disease. Police officers who are not trained to deal with the mentally ill often do not recognize that person is ill. Some police officers do not recognize if the individual should or not go to jail or a treatment center or medical facility. The impact of law enforcement and the judicial system dealing with people with a mental illness is to assist the inmates with the help they need.
From a historical point of view, African Americans have been at a disadvantage in mental health through subjection to trauma through slavery, oppression, colonialism, racism, and segregation (Poussaint & Alexander, 2000).The research shows that these inequalities are not a new and have been existing for many years. The number of young people experiencing mental health difficulties is on the increase. Statistics show that more than one in two young people will present with some form of mental disorder by the time they reach the age of 24 (Cannon et al. 2013). Good mental health is fundamental to the ability of young people to remain healthy and to enjoy their lives. It enables them to develop and succeed, to participate in and contribute to society. Over the past decade mental health has come to the forefront of public consciousness.

Mental health services have been significantly decreasing lately due to pressures to limit health care expenditures in general. The world has an ongoing growth of diversity.
Less than ten percent of mental health cases in the African American community is reported to health center. However, that statistics does not cover the amount of people who suffer from these behind closed doors. There is a stigma place in the Black community, that if you seek or speak out about your mental Illness you are perceived as weak or less of a person. The question that have arose is where this stigma stemmed from. Through research, the most reoccurring explanation is that there is not enough mental health care centers in areas that black people are populated.
Mental health is a state of psychological well-being. According to World Health Organization (WHO) mental health includes "subjective well-being, perceived self-efficacy, autonomy, competence, intergenerational dependence, and self-actualization of one's intellectual and emotional potential, among others." (Organization, WHO 2001) However, cultural differences, race, ethnicity, personal background, subjective assessment, and socioeconomic status all affect how mental health is defined. This variation in definitions of mental health between different sects of our society further causes drift in methods of treatment, and may cause the burden of mental health to be greater on some cultures.
