He brutally kills many innocent people just because they are in his way. Although John Brown tries to end slavery, which is a good deed, he does use violence, and murder people who are innocent; therefore, John Brown is guilty of murder, treason, and insurrections. John Brown not only starts a very violent insurrection, almost like a war. He also brutally murders people who are just in his way. Insurrection means a violent uprising against authority.
Nat Turner and John Brown are both noted, as being symbols of American reform. Leaders of abolitionist groups, who went on a killing spree believing they were given “extraordinary powers from above” and were executed for their strong beliefs of anti-slavery. Their gruesome murders could easily attract followers and spark interest in others to write their biographies. John Brown and Nat turner both came from strong religious backgrounds.

He also went against orders and cut off communication with his army, which would normally result in being released from duty, but he was quickly forgiven when it resulted in a Union victory. His perspective of total war is a great example of military strength, but when that strength is exerted, resulting in millions of dollars in damage, it does more harm than good. After the war, the country was left in economic distress, and rebuilding parts of the Carolinas and Georgia due to his “March to the Sea” were just adding to that long list of bills to pay.
Many people either think John Brown was a terrorist or a freedom fighter. There are many facts to show both. I believe Brown was a freedom fighter. Evidence Brown was a freedom fighter and not a terrorist. John Brown wanted to fight against slave owners.
John Brown was a man with a strong hatred for slavery who tried to lead a rebellion against it. After this he was called a “misguided fanatic” by Abraham Lincoln. Which leaves the question, was John Brown a “misguided fanatic”? I think John Brown was a misguided fanatic, or according to dictionary.com a, mistaken person with an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm, because he was so set in his rebellion that his mind couldn’t be changed even when told his plan wouldn’t go well, and although he was told his actions would be fatal he went on to do so . In The Life and Times of Frederick Douglass, Douglass states that there was no changing Brown
He pretended not to be of his era, only stopping to help natives and African Americans when it benefited him and his views. He only helped black people when he knew there was a possibility that they would die in a war he created. He worked to destroy the very government he was appointed to, which, if he succeeded, he would have caused a collapse in American society, and the possible destruction of the entire country. This goes against the definition of democracy, the population votes as a whole and everyone should be equally represented. If a president today were to rip people from their homes, forcing them into a tiny amount of land, calling them savages, there would be protests on every corner.
All though, many people would say Osama Bin Laden was more then a terrorist, he was a menace who changed the future in security and safety world. Him saying this meant his heart was to full of compassion to kill anyone or be violent to anyone, he was a better man then that he didn 't want the grief of killing someone to hang heavy over his head for the rest of his life, but he was afraid to admit that to anyone until now.
In the United States, during the eighteen-hundreds’, a small group of people believed that slavery was immoral and did many things to abolish it. John Brown, a Caucasian male who was part of this group of people, did two things that many people in United States history didn’t have the passion to do. John Brown’s life was very interesting: His early life and transition to adulthood, his decision to fight for the cause, his actions of violence in Kansas and Harper’s Ferry, along with, the long-lasting effects of these actions led to his hanging. These events were pivotal to the beginning of the Civil War. “John Brown was born in Torrington, Connecticut, on May 9, 1800, five months after the death of George Washington”(Marrin,7).
John Brown has made a point that defends him from being called a terrorist. Furthermore, in the article, Last Speech, John Brown says, “I never did intend murder, or treason, or the destruction of property, or to excite or incite slaves to rebellion, or make insurrection.” As a result of this speech this make Brown seem like a national because he says he never intended murder. Also Brown after this speech makes the government look like the bad guy and make his execution even more one sided. John Brown has claims against him that make him look as bad as a terrorist.

Next we can look into Brown’s motives for his crimes, James N. Gilbert lists 3 points as to what motivates some terrorists “1.Society is sick and cannot be cured by half measures of reform. 2.The state is in itself violent and can be countered and overcome only by violence.
A hero and a terrorist are seemingly contradictory concepts. Nonetheless, V fits in both descriptions. Terrorism is defined as utilizing violent means to cause fear towards enemies. Yet if acts of heroes are under court judgments, murdering specific villains
Nevertheless, whether terrorism has a religion or not is definitely not what I am here to write about. Discrimination in any shape or form should not be tolerated, it must be stopped. Islamophobia has severely increased discrimination in our world; likewise, biased views against not only Muslims but also non-Muslims are becoming a norm nowadays. You might ask how? Well, due to the unbelievable indoctrination of our people through social media and politics, anyone who looks like they are from the Middle East and has a beard, is a terrorist.
