Document Based Assignment 2 On September 11, 2001 terrorists attacked our country causing one of the most devastating events in United States history. Islamic extremists seized control of four airplanes, crashing two of them into the Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon, and the last in Pennsylvania. Overall they killed 3,000 people and another 6,000 were terribly injured.9/11 is a day the U.S. will never forget, paying respect every year to all those who sadly died. There are many clues leading up to this incident showing Osama Bin Laden’s hatred towards the U.S. and the Americans reaction to him.
Today some people would say that John Brown is a terrorist, and some people would might say he isn’t. The dictionary’s definition of a terrorist is, “A person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims”. An example of this would be if a man shot about 20 to 35 children because culturally diverse kids were all in the same school together, versus the shooting at Las Vegas. That man was shooting people just to shoot people. Which is why I would say John Brown isn’t a terrorist because, he only killed the slave owners.
The assassination of Osama Bin Laden was just because he was dangerous, a threat, and had too way much power. Osama Bin Laden wanted to create his own and he was willing to do whatever to get what he desired no matter who he had to kill. Do you think Osama Bin Laden should’ve been assassinated . Most people would think yes of course all of the people has hurt and killed over his own desires. Some would say no because it was thought as his religion so why not follow that , but that doesn’t mean you just kill innocent people for absolutely no reason.

On May 2, 2011, The United States’ Navy SEAL Team Six killed Osama bin Laden (CNN Library 1). Osama bin Laden is responsible for planning 9/11, and many other terrorist attacks. In these attacks, Bin Laden was responsible for killing thousands of people. On September 11th, 2001, four American planes were hijacked, all of the passengers on each plane were killed. Two planes hit the World Trade Center in New York, one plane hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the other plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.

It had a lot of terms to try to maintain world peace. Cold war tensions between the USSR and the USA prevented a permanent UN force from being created. As an alternative, the UN decided to send temporary military forces into the world regional hotspots to keep the peace. Military officials were sent to the Pakistan-India region of Kashmir. The same action was taken the following month along the Arab-Israeli borders in Palestine.
I wanted to learn about domestic terrorism incidents and what separates domestic terrorism from international terrorism. The term of domestic terrorism seems to have changed in recent years from those with anti-government views like Timothy McVeigh and the Weather Underground to include those with beliefs of international terror groups such as the Boston Marathon Bombers and Fort Hood shooter. I felt somewhat unsure as to if suspects like the Boston Marathon Bombers fit the category of domestic terrorism or international terrorism, and I now feel as if I have a much better understanding of terrorism terms. Is it possible to justify and defend such acts? In the chapter “Terrorism: A Critique of Excuses”, author Michael Walzer shuts down four excuses that attempt to justify terrorism. In the chapter, “Should the Ticking Bomb Terrorist Be Tortured?”, Alan Dershowitz defends his theory that it is necessary to torture a terrorist if that means saving the lives of innocent people while protecting their civil liberties and human rights at the same time. Terrorism can never be moral because it violates all “excuses” and torture is an acceptable tactic to save lives.
