On May 2, 2011, The United States’ Navy SEAL Team Six killed Osama bin Laden (CNN Library 1). Osama bin Laden is responsible for planning 9/11, and many other terrorist attacks. In these attacks, Bin Laden was responsible for killing thousands of people. On September 11th, 2001, four American planes were hijacked, all of the passengers on each plane were killed. Two planes hit the World Trade Center in New York, one plane hit the Pentagon in Washington D.C., and the other plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. As a result, President George Bush declared a war on terror, and he initiated a mission to find and kill Osama bin Laden. The CIA and other intelligence services searched and acquired information on where Bin Laden could be hiding. In 2009, the CIA located the area of Pakistan where Bin Laden hid in his compound. As the leader of Al-Qaeda, Bin Laden planned many terrorist attacks on several different nations for the soul purpose of killing innocent people. For example, Bin Laden’s most infamous plot was the attack on September 11th, 2001. As a result, about three thousand innocent Americans lost their lives (Bergen 1). In addition to 9/11, Bin Laden also planned terrorist attacks that killed hundreds of people in Kenya, Indonesia, Spain, Great Britain, and on the U.S.S. Cole, a United States destroyer (Time Magazine 1). The attack on the U.S.S. Cole not only killed innocent people, but those people were American military personnel. After the attack, Bin Laden stated, “I knelt to thank God for this heroic operation that damaged the prestige of the United States,” (Scheuer 118).
