Should Caesar have been assassinated? The people of Rome liked him and chose him as dictator and the only reason it happened was because the senate thought he wanted to be king when he was barely a dictator. Think about it if the people of Rome chose he isn't he more like a president. Therefore the assassination of Caesar was not justified for these and the other reasons that he was compassionate, helpful, and grew Rome. For example, one way he was compassionate was, “He pardoned rather than punished enemies” (Beard 294-295). This proves that Caesar was not looking for revenge and instead was looking to make peace with enemies, he actually had feelings and wasn't an emotionless tyrant and actually cared about people. Another example is, “He was very much in the good grace of citizens because of his easy manners and friendly way in which he mixed the people” (Nardo 24). This shows that he was liked by the citizens of Rome and thought to be a good person in the eyes of the citizens. …show more content…

For example, “He launched massive building projects that created thousands of new jobs” (Rinaldo 107-108). This proves that Caesar could and wanted to help Romans (specifically people in poverty or plebians) get jobs to feed their family or get other needs. Another example is, “Many senators felt that Rome needed a ruler with the power to impose orders quickly, they named Caesar dictator and later extended his power for ten years” (Rinaldo 107-108). This proves that Caesar was a good enough lead to where he came in as dictator which was only supposed to be a six month thing, they extended his power for ten years
