The Haitian Revolution was the most radical social revolution in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries in the Atlantic world and Europe. The revolution was the most successful slave revolt of all time and the only slave rebellion that overthrew their oppressors and gained their independence. The revolution led to hope for enslaved blacks all over the world, especially in America; not only did it help lead to hope but influenced black abolitionists and activists for decades to come.
