A review of the events involving the North Charleston, S. Carolina Whitlee Jones murder case as it applies to the Tennessee “stand your ground” statute brings several factors into question. As indicated in the article, South Carolina’s law as does Tennessee’s states that a person having reasonable fear of death or serious bodily harm can use deadly force on the unlawful intruder. However, this does not apply to a lawful resident or a person who has a legal right to be in the dwelling, business, or auto (Knapp, 2014). As Jones indicates she removes herself from the danger on several occasions, yet she continues to return, placing herself once again in position to receive serious injury or death from her boyfriend who is legally occupying the
We feel that the only reason why Zimmerman was not found guilty is because he is a white American from the majority group. In the other hand, if Zimmerman was a black man, and Trayvon Martin was a white teenager then Zimmerman
Isaac Harris and Max Blanck are guilty of manslaughter. I think this becuase there is lots of evidence that proves that they are guilty. One piece of evidence that proves this is that there was a lack of fire safety in the factory, no sprinkler system, and no escape route. Another piece of evidence that proves that Blanck and Harris are guilty of manslaughter is that there were fire hazards everywhere, causing the fire to spread very quickly. The final piece of evidence that proves that Blanck and Harris are guilty of manslaughter is that Harris KNEW that the doors were locked becuase he wanted to make sure that the employees didn’t steal anything.
Who killed Alberta Williams? Another victim was found dead along the Highway of Tears. Over 40 Indigenous women are either missing or murdered on this highway; Alberta Williams is one of them. Most of the victims were believed to be hitchhiking before they had gone missing. The case is now almost 34 years old, and the police still have not made an arrest.
The criminal justice system is unfair and overruled. The evidence given from this case and the things that happened leads to murder. Alejandro was not supposed to get shot, the officers could of used other actions instead shooting him to death. This article brings issues that people of color are really in danger in this community. If we would of seen a white male sitting and eating like how Alejandro was then
Although Wayne Williams was convicted for killing 2 adults, the Atlanta Child Murders began in July of 1979 after the bodies of 2 children were found hidden under the bushes of at the side of an Atlanta road. (Biography.com Editors, 2015). For the next 22 months the city and FBI would find 29 victims suspected of being murdered by Wayne Williams a free-lance photographer and hopeful music producer with a criminal record of impersonating the police. (unknown, 2014). 14-year-old Edward Smith was found shot by a .22 caliber weapon and 13-year-old Alfred Evan was found murdered by asphyxiation these deaths sparked the beginnings of a string of child murders that would rock Atlanta to its core.
Wayne Williams was found guilty of the killing of two people. Even years after William’s still tries to persuade the idea of him being innocent. Just like fingerprints, hair analysis is following the same path. I think that DNA fingerprints will become bigger and more accurate of accusing killers, the use of hair analysis will decrease, but I do not think hair analysis should be taken away.
The fiber evidence presented in this case was so overwhelming and simply was the driving force leading to Wayne Williams conviction. I do not believe the prosecution would have been able to obtain the same results without it. The credibility of the FBI forensics investigators and their reputable crime lab made for excellent testimony concerning the fiber evidence at trail, which the defense was simply ill prepared to counter attack its merits (The Atlanta, n.d.). Other evidence was presented in this case, and much of this evidence while certainly impactful on the case and to members of the jury, this evidence alone without the fiber evidence would surely not have held up to the standard of beyond a reasonable doubt.
Would you believe that the mastermind of three murders could be out of jail in just eight years? Do you think it is fair that the other person involved with the murders was sentenced to life in jail and will only be eligible for parole after serving 25 years? Would it change your mind after knowing that the mastermind is just an 12-year-old? Jasmine Richardson was the 13 year old behind this terrible murder. Most wouldn’t believe someone that young could come up and go through with something that terrible.
Gwynne Evans 23 year old also known as Ginger or Sandy because of the colour of his hair but real name John Robson Walby; Gwynne was short in stature; His friend 21 year old Peter Anthony Allen in contrast was 6ft 2inches tall but a bit slow in the brain department according to some that knew him. Allen was married to Mary who was 21 years old and they hasd two children but Mary was also in a relationship with Evans. Like most young struggling couples at the time (1964) money was not plentiful and Allen and his wife needed a hundred pounds to cover rates due on their Clarandon street property and a fine that was outstanding.
Williams is denying the crimes he committed. Stanley Williams was violent person growing up because of his child hood and the founder of a gang named Crips. Williams states " I am innocent and, yes, I have been a wretched person, but I have redeemed myself." This quote means that Stanley is denying what he did and is claiming that he is innocent but is still expressing how he changed from how he was before. One may think that even though he is denying his crimes, he still chenged from them, This supports my claim because it shows Williams is denying his crimes.
Christopher Simmons killed this innocent woman and more punishment should have been given than what was. Simmons will sit in prison thinking that he got away with it. This does not set a good example for the younger generation, that if you want to murder someone then you can and you don't receive the death penalty, but jail for life. The death penalty was legal for minors in the State of Missouri, the death penalty was a fair punishment for Christopher Simmons and would have been the wisest punishment to give. No mercy should have been given to Simmons on this action.
He had so much life to live until it was taken away from the cruel punishment of death penalty some people say he deserved it. That is an example of racial bias a 14 year old african american teen killed by death penalty due to a murder he committed of two young caucasianfemales but George was only 14. Supreme court says if your 15 and under you shouldn’t receive a death penalty because you are not seen as an adult unless your 18 or older 15 and under your still seen as a juvenile. Then why did George stinney get executed ? Is it far that kids have been getting killed by death penalty due to their actions.
Texas Activist You did not know that a black human activist and a white tattoo artist were to have so much in common? Malcolm X, the well-known, tells of his great pathway to intelligence through his narrative “Literacy Behind Bars” while Alex Williams, a well-known tattoo artist from New York, tells of how he separated from schooling, in the profile named Drawn to a Larger Scale, to become the successful man he is today. After overlooking both pieces of writing many similarities and differences are noted not only in the the occasions and profiles, but also through their views of education to highlight how they achieved success. Both authors reveal their struggle with adversity, denoting their underdog status through occasions.
The murderer should get life in prison because it was done intentionally with no remorse. Travon Martin killer killed him purposely for no reason and travon didn’t get no justice because the officer didn’t go to jail. Micheal Brown is another example of a officer not going to jail for killing a innocent harmless black man. Micheal Brown had his hands up with no weapn and he still got unned down. Eric Garner also didn’t get no justice for his killing because his killer
