My hometown parish is called Washington parish, I found that my parish falls under Pleistocene terraces for its major landform with a little bit of Holocene alluvium. The elevation of Washington parish is 73 meters or 240 feet. It is identified with Upland terrace as its aquifer system, its well number is, Wa-13. The depth of its well is 156 feet and it was drilled in 1942. Washington parish has three rivers that run throughout it. The first is the Bogue Chitto River, which runs from the Louisiana-Mississippi state line to its entrance into the Pearl River navigation canal. It has shallow water areas. Those areas usually have a depth of five feet or less. Some are natural and others were created by man, things like dams, levees, and other water control structures. It also has swamps, waterfowl feeding areas and many ponds. Sixty three percent of the land area in Washington parish soil is Ruston- Smithdale which is very gently sloping to moderately steep, well drained soils that are loamy. Savannah-Ruston-Tangi soil which is gently sloping to moderately sloping, moderately well drained loamy soil that has a loamy surface and loamy clayey subsoil which takes up for about 37 percent of soil make up. Also Myatt-Stough-Prentiss, which is leveled and gently sloping, with very poor drainage also loamy soil which account for about 20 percent of the soil makeup. Washington parish has a humid subtropical climate. The climate is usually uniform throughout the parish. It has warm average temperatures and large amounts of precipitation. In the winter the average temperature is 51 degrees Fahrenheit the average daily minimum temperature is 40
