My Gender Gender development is very complex. Most young children may be confusing their gender identity, gender roles and gender role stereotype because family is very important to help their children to understand and identify their gender. Each family in each the country influences of their children development in differences way.
Being identity boy or girl is depending on biological sex and physical characteristics. However, the sex chromosomes may involve gender development. It depends on females and males genotype syndrome normal or not research by O’Neil (1998-2013). Everyone has different identify gender than the other. According Khadijah (2015), her PowerPoint slide presentation described boys are strong and healthy. Whereas, girls are adorable. Why people believe that boys are strong and healthy than girls because parents and community involve their children development. The word adorable indicates that girls are beautiful. However, boys are strong and healthy it represents for boy’s power. Some parents think gender inappropriate. They decide toys or game for their child to play differently based on gender. For example, Boys can play football, baseball but not girls. Family and culture affect the children development in their environment to pass on to next generation. Traditional culture stereotypes, parents taught their children of their stereotypes differently based on their sex. For example, girls support wear dress, help mom for food prepare and talk care of younger sibling. In addition, girls cannot allow to play men sport or wear boy clothes. Whereas boy’s stereotype is, work outside the house and provide for their family need. Boys can enjoy any activities outside exclude house chores. Brewer claimed on her List of Gender Stereotypes article, “Women are nurses, not doctors. Women are not as strong as men.” On the other hand, males are more open than females “Men are not nurses, they are doctors. Men are in charge; they are always at the top.” Brewer List of Gender Stereotypes ague that “Men and women are individuals; they are more than just male or female. Our gender is only part of who we are; it does not define us a people.” I agree with the author Brewer because which my experiences I could play soccer better than other boys.
