Wassily Kandinsky was an Avant Garde painter who paved a way for artist in abstract art. Kandinsky was one the founders of Abstract art, which gave him the nickname as the ‘Father of Abstract Art.” He believed that art should express how a person is feeling than focusing on the reality. His opinion on the meaning of art went along with the meaning of abstract art. Abstract art takes natural objects and expressed them through simplified or exaggerated forms. In abstract art, natural objects are often changed in appearance, to connect to the subject of the painting. For example in Kandinsky painting, the Composition IV, shown many natural shapes exaggerated in different forms to tell the story of the painting. The black lines in the painting are mostly curvy lines that help creates tension for the battle but it also has vertical and jagged lines. In divided lines in the painting represents the weapons that the warriors used in the battle. Also, in the painting, the curvy lines draws out the image of the horses used during the battle. The title of the painting “Composition IV”, represented Kandinsky love of music because he sees art as a form of art. Composition in music is a form of a musical piece in classical music. Classic music was very popular in Russia around the time of this painting. Kandinsky often tries to merge his musical influences into his paintings through objects and titles. The colors and symbols used in the painting all show the story of how the battle turned from violent to peaceful. The main colors that are used are a darker yellow, blue, green, violet, and brown. Yellow usually represents happiness and joy but in this case, represents the madness of the battle. It is implied that the inspired battle in Russia created a lot of madness for the country. The color blue represents how the war madness eventually calms
