Each an every area of knowledge uses some network of ways of knowing when gaining knowledge. With how vast the knowledge in the world we obtain is, it is impossible not to use multiple ways of knowing in order to understand an area of knowledge to its fullest extent as well as how other people may understand it. By using a network of ways of knowing we get to see more in depth and the different approaches or angles you can take to understand the subject. By secluding our knowledge to one way of knowing it can really limit our perspective and overall understanding of the topic. Possibly the most notorious way of knowing in respects to religion is faith. Although faith does not have to be used only in terms of religion, it is a general term used to describe ones trust or belief in something or someone with no true evidence supporting it. This way of knowing is probably the most conflicting in that proof is not necessary for ones faith to be considered a valid way of knowing. Similar to someone who is not religiously oriented arguing why they do not believe in a religion, people who do have faith in a religion, simply believe in it just because they do. Comparable to faith one can use reason, another way of knowing, in order to support their reasoning behind believing in and supporting a religion. Reason unlike faith has some sort of justification or logical explanation as to why the person believes in this religion. For example, if someone says they are Christian because they have seen God, or spoke to him, that would be a reason to believe in the Christian belief system. In the Arts I believe every way of knowing is applicable in some way and always together. In my opinion for something to be defined as art it has to make you feel something emotionally. Whether that feeling you get is good or bad does not matter, the only matter is whether any emotion occurred. There are and infinite amount of ways to express your artistic side, whether that be visually, audibly, or any other form that pleases your senses. Sense perception being one ways of knowing causes a reaction of some sort where emotions are in play. These emotions could occur because of a painting you saw, music you heard, or a food you smelled and with some sort of personal connection it would be classified as an Art, according to my definition. Art is a very imaginative and freeing form of expression that can be ethically inspired, memory triggering, and even faith/religious oriented. And in totality every way of knowing applies to the Arts and as long as there is the most important way of knowing, emotion, it should be considered a true
