Religion is the pure devotion to something that is hard to understand, grasp, and unknown to be true. For some, the thought of looking past the unknown to something that is bigger than themselves is just not their cup of tea. For others, the thought of something unexplainable, grand, and the all knowing is something that they need to help guide them through life. Whatever you chose is completely and utterly your decision and no one should be able to tell you otherwise. People find comfort when turning to their religions belief when thinking about the after life, maybe their own, or someone close to their heart. The chinese religion states that all sinners will spend a portion of time in hell where as in christianity hell was originally not meant for humans, only hates himself to burn but later was a place used for judgement of sinners and a way to separate those from god for eternity. Through my search for heaven, I found much less. The differences between heaven in chinese religion and christianity is the simply the name, to me heaven is very similar. They place their god in heaven and that is what they worship. In the chinese religion Confucius believed that he will be called to heaven when is work for heaven is done, just like in Christianity where the disciples believed they served Jesus or when they believe god will summon you when he believes your time is over or your work as been done. Hell or Diyu is similar in many ways. The way they started was different but the general sense of paying for your sins is identical. What I found to be interested is Christianity has the 10 commandments which should never be broken, while the chinese religions have the 5 grave offenses which consist of similar regulations, You should not kill, you should not steal, and you should not disrespect your “god”.
