During the past few years, many fast food companies have decided to pursue healthier types of foods that would appeal to today’s public choice of eating healthy. In today’s market, many fast food companies are trying to develop new ways for enticing consumers to buy their food as opposed to their competitors. These fast food companies have succeeded in portraying the “Newer, Healthier Look” image by introducing new products on their menus. Of all the fast food companies nationwide, Wendy’s has taken the lead in the healthy, grass-fed, organic food line up. In one of the main food categories, Wendy’s is exceling in the chicken and hamburger industry. The fast food giant, Wendy’s, sells hamburgers that are 100% ground beef and are not just pink slim. Recently stated on their website, Wendy’s proclaimed that their burgers are, “100% pure beef from North American raised cattle, has no fillers, no additives, no flavor boosters and no ammonia treatments” (Wendy’s). Their hamburgers compared to the hamburgers of McDonalds, Burger King and other well-known fast food restaurants are deemed healthier by the public. Their burgers contain 430 calories compared to McDonalds “ground beef/ pink slim” burgers that are 540 calories. Another aspect that Wendy’s is doing exceptionally well in is, their chicken line up. Wendy’s has numerous salads that display Wendy’s as a lead company in the fast food restaurant business as “healthy”. A quote from Dando states, “Wendy's International is hoping for the same parent-to-child rub-off. The chain introduced, for adults, its Garden Sensations salads in 2000, with the newest spinach with chicken variety debuting this month” (Dando, 8). This quote shows that the salad line, which Wendy’s is continuously expanding on, will allow the franchise to grow more into the health food organizations and become a market leading
