I disagree with you. I believe that the colonists were not justified in resisting the British policies after the French and Indian War. As you stated, a country has a right to tax its own people and to enforce laws. Do you not agree then that it was okay for the colonists to have to be taxed too, since they had moved from England to America to live as British citizens? The colonists desired to be treated like every other British citizen, but at the same time, they did not think it was fair for them to pay taxes.
So, were the colonists validated in engaging war and separating from Britain? The Americans were justified in declaring their independence from Britain because Britain did not listen to America’s grievances and petitions, British soldiers were forced into civilian homes and treated the colonists terribly, and
After years and years of struggle, they finally revolted and took part in something this nation could never forget. It was something they thought which was well-deserved, although everyone was entitled to their own opinions. Were the colonists justified, or had valid reasons, in declaring their
In my opinion, this would’ve just caused more conflict with the Natives. If the colonist would have shared the land with the Natives and created a peace treaty all the conflict would end and they could live in
At a time when the British Monarchy was establishing itself as the cornerstone of the emerging and dynamic British Constitution, and all British subjects, including those in the North American Colonies, were subjects of the Crown, Price provided the theoretical foundation to justify, and even advocate, the actions of the colonists in severing their ties with Britain. This was a very dangerous thing to do, he was after all lending support to those who were seen by most people as treacherous. However, although he was heavily criticized and was, at one time, fearful of his life, Price resolutely supported the colonists believing that their cause was justified and that the British Government, and the King no less, were guilty of denying these
However, it is wrong to fully blame the colonists because they were getting unfair treatment from the British already with taxes. It was merely a protest. “...great number of heavy clubs and snowballs being thrown at them, by which all of our lives were in imminent danger, some persons at the same time calling out, damn your bloods-why don’t you fire.” (Document B) The colonists are seen here provoking the soldiers with their protests, and although it may have been a cause leading to a terrifying effect, it still doesn’t change the fact that the British Soldiers had reacted with violence
During the Colonial Era (1492-1763), colonists were justified in waging war against Great Britain; due to the inequitable Stamp Act, the insufferable British oppression, and the perceived tyranny of King George III, the king of Great Britain, however, the colonists were unjustified in some of their actions. In Colonial America, colonists were justified in waging war against Great Britain, because the Stamp Act was unfair and viewed as punishment. Because of the war, Britain had no other choice but to tax the colonists to pay for the debt. For example, according to document 2, the author states that the act was not only for trade but for “the single purpose of levying money.”
The colonists ' response were reasonable because the colonists only peacefully rebelled, protested, and wrote documents. First, the British violated the colonists ' freedom of movement through the proclamation of 1763. The proclamation was set to stop the colonists from expanding to the west of North America. To this violation, the colonists did
The British government was not looking for the best of the people. They were only thinking about what they wanted; the government was not interested in what the people wanted so they decided to make decisions on their own, which resulted in changes that form the United States today. Because of this, they were justified in rebelling and declaring independence. One reason why the colonists decided to rebel and declare independence was because of taxation.
Has anyone heard about how the colonist fought against the British? Most definitely you sure did, but have you come to think why the colonist fought them? Well, because of the fact that the Colonist was being under the control of Britain and no longer wanted to be, under anyone's control. So, the Colonist were justified to revolt against the British. I believe they were justified to revolt because, British violated the Colonist rights, the British impacted the Colonists' economic opportunity, and the Colonists' life and liberty was impacted.
This was a misuse of power because Great Britain was taking advantage of the colonists and was forcing them to follow these unjust laws and pointless
The American Revolution was, to date, the best event to happen on American soil, providing freedom and representation in government to the individuals who fought so hard for it. France and Spain aided our cause, helping this group of brave colonists to defeat the strongest army in the world. But, there is a question still not answered; were the colonists justified in breaking away from Britain? The American colonists were justified in breaking away from the British because there was taxation without representation, they had no freedom, and the British government violated their individual British rights. I believe the American colonists were justified for breaking away from Britain because there was taxation without representation.
In the years before the Revolution, the American colonists were poorly treated by the British Parliament. After the Parliament closed down the port of Boston, and passed a statute stating, “An act for the impartial administration of justice… or for the suppression of riots and tumults, in the province of the Massachusetts-Bay in New England,” the colonists released a document, the Declaration and Resolves of the First Continental Congress, listing their grievances of the Parliament (U.S. Cong.). The Colonies took steps, after listing their grievances and eventually winning their independence from Britain, to make sure they could and would not mimic the British government’s errors and actions, creating documents like the Constitution of United
Britain was forcing the colonists to house the British soldiers and there was no compensation. The British government also violated the colonist’s rights by restricting trade by preventing other nations from purchasing products form the North American colonial market. Obviously, the Founding Fathers were justified in rebelling because the British government was taking advantage of the colonists. Parliament applied various taxes, and forced the colonists to house British soldiers which violated the rights of the colonists.
The Native Americans and english settlers don’t have the best past together. We have all heard the stories of the bloody battles between the proud Native Americans and the white Americans. There is no excuse to how we treated this group of people who were on this land first, we forced them out of there areas and would slaughter them if they wouldn’t leave. It is one of the most disturbing times in American history, and something that should never be repeated again.
