The two pieces I have observed are Sad Case by Lightfoot and Leon and D-Man in the Water by Bill T. Jones. These two pieces are quite different but in a way they feel as if they could play off each other. Which is why I will be discussing the difference in the costuming, movement, and musical scores. These three components were the first things that I saw as I was watching the videos.
Aya keeps a scrapbook to keep track of all of the memories she has had, good or bad. The images, and decorations she places in the scrapbook all have a personal meaning to her. Some items describe her character, others represent her home life and emotions. Aya’s scrapbook is almost like a diary, it becomes an outlet for her to put her emotions into, but not exactly into words. For if the other Orphans read an actual diary, they might think she is crazy, but they might not understand the scrapbook, thinking it’s rather a place for her to put some pictures.
‘The water was dark’ concludes a young girl how’s love for swimming helps her escape her incapable, depressive mother. “Maybe that’s why I started swimming, she thought, to stop her from drowning me” is the thought process the young girl has. The meaning behind this is that instead of drowning by her mothers comments and habits, she found another world through swimming to have somewhere to go when she found herself slipping away. When she realises that “she didn’t love it (swimming) the way the others did, she knew she couldn’t be without it,” we figure that the reason she couldn’t be without it is because of how she uses swimming as an escape goat from life. She loves swimming for a different reason for others; others do swimming because they love the sport and to stay fit, she swims for the way it makes you feel and the fact that when you swim, you only think about your style, breathing and technique, you don’t have room to think of anything
Anna Nguyen Mr. Frattarelli NBE3UE-01 26 October 2015 (Creative title) In “Swimming Upstream” and “Traplines” the problems that the characters face differ, however they both experience the same feeling of being trapped and being constantly lost through their struggles. This theme is evidently present through the lifestyle of Will in “Traplines” because of the repetitive, negative lifestyle that he and his friends are forced through every day. Will and his friends are trapped in a community with little to no options on how to live their life which is why they are forced to spend a majority of their time at the Rinkydink, “I leave the Rinkydink and go for a walk, I walk and walk and end up back in front of the Rinkydink.
"A Long Walk To Water", Nya's story by Linda Sue Park, explains how Nya had a stuggle for water, not knowing that there was water. One explanation of this is that she walks miles to get water that is muddy just to drink it. One day when she came back she found out that her sister was sick. Her sister had gotten better but her uncle and father, who're the leaders of her village, were talking about water. When Nya heard this she was confused, she thought that there was no water other than the muddy water she had fetched everyday.
If you want to stir up emotions that will either get some people rowdy, some distraught, and others to avoid all answers, talk about race. Sociologist are constantly battling the topic of race because most people define race as the color of someone’s skin color yet, it has meaning much more complex. The definition of race and ethnicity is, “social, historical, and philosophical process that people have down for hundreds of year and are still doing” (Markus Moya 4). In this paper, you will learn about Markus and Moya “Doing Race”, an article discussing race, ethnicity and how they play apart in everyday life. A video called “Black Folk Don’t: Swim”, which leads to the discussion of different stereotypes and where they are originated from.

White Water is a huge water park and a great place to cool off. One of the attractions is a Lazy River, which has water jets that pushes visitors through a canal that winds throughout the park. The park also includes a wave pool that pushes and pulls water causing waves that get bigger and bigger as water depth increases. White Water isn 't just a day time event; throughout the summer months they host movie nights. This event is held in the wave pool, with the waves turned off so people can float freely without bumping into others.
In this experiment, a virtual program designed to demonstrate the swimming of a virtual fish, was used. This program is called SWIMMY. SWIMMY was used in this experiment to determine the circuits that are used in the movement of an animal. This is done by presenting the neurons and the neural circuits in a body which can allow and show the movement of the fish’s tail virtually. The movement of the fish tail occurs by the activation of motor neurons.

Swimming has been a key skill for survival since the dawn of man but swimming first became an Olympic Sport in 1834. In this essay I will be discussing how technology has impacted the performance of Olympic Swimming over the years. The technology I will be examining is the material incorporated in the swimsuits. The reason why I chose to discuss this technology is because it has changed and impacted the sport in more that one way and has presented a bigger change than any of the other technologies.
Furthermore, in my design, the figure which presents women is wearing a dress and the graphic is using red color. “To our 21st century ears, all this men in pink stuff may sound a bit blushy. It's so deeply entrenched in us and our culture. We think of pink as such a girlish color, but it's really a post-World War II phenomenon (Stemberg, 2014).” Actually, red and blue is the common contrast colors to stand for two genders, because warm hue can mostly represent female, which is feminine, romantic, etc.
My nerves from the first class unexpectedly came rushing back. These students grew into great swimmers, but I knew that the depth of the water could petrify them. The first few students were able to swim back up with little to no effort, but the last girl lost her footing and slipped into the pool and couldn 't resurface. I froze as I saw her struggling to swim and breathe. My mind quickly flashed back to the time I jumped out of my tube and almost drowned.
I turn my head up and take a breath.” That is how Jenna Ward (November 8, 2016) described the feeling of swimming. Everyone should be able to feel the thrill of accomplishing something so important as swimming. Swimming is a life saving skill all people should learn to do. I have a personal experience with the need to know how to swim.
I had a fear of water since I was a child, but somehow managed to take a risk and dive. You know the feeling of being underwater? The bone-crushing pressure of gallons of water envelops every inch of your body and sinks into your lungs, your brain, your heart. While you remain remarkably void of feeling, the fullness of defeat dominates your mind until all that is left inside you are the remnants of the sea’s terrors. Underwater, there are no sounds from the outside world - no cries from those you have wronged, no professions of love hidden inside for too long, no vicious words flung ruthlessly at your feet from the glares of passing strangers.
