Being Brave To Kill A Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, is a tale of two children, Jem and Scout. This powerfully inspiring and educational story entails daily life of the children, as well as the struggles they faced while their father is defending a black man’s case during a racially segregated time period. As an author, Harper Lee developed multiple themes throughout this story. These themes include good, evil, justice, fear, family, forgiveness, and compassion.
The Novel ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ by Harper Lee was very informative. It included two unique characters, Tom Robinson and Bob Ewell. Tom Robinson was one of the best characters in my opinion. Bob Ewell was not one of the best. Tom and Bob are similar in many ways.
However, there were many who rejected the idea of segregation and became what people consider a hero today. To Kill a Mockingbird was written by Harper Lee in the 1960’s. It tells the story of a young girl, named Scout, growing up during this time period. In the story, her father defies the Jim Crow Laws by defending an African American, named Tom Robinson.
John E. Steinbeck Jr. was born on February 27, 1902, Salinas, Ca. Steinbeck is the winner of the “Nobel Prize in Literature.” He has been called “ a giant of American letters.” Steinbeck wrote a book called The Red Pony in 1933. The first three sections were published in magazines from 1933-1936, and the full book was published in 1937 by Covici Friede.
John Steinbeck was a brilliant yet controversial writer whom was genuinely curious in the hope of an improved form of government and society. He was believed to be a communist at a time when many American citizens were still fearful of a communist takeover. His novel Grapes of Wrath is a superb example of literature written through the eyes of a Marxist characterized by a focus on disproportionate economic power, materialism versus spirituality, and the class conflict experienced by those suffering throughout the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. The entirety of Grapes of Wrath is acutely concentrated on the aspect of economic disparity and its resulting effects.

The reason why John Steinbeck was so important because he won a Pulitzer Prize in 1940 and a Nobel prize September 14th 1964 for the books he wrote. Some of the books he wrote were Grapes of Wrath, Tortilla Flats, and Of Mice and Men.
