In the article "Don’t blame the eater" written by Zinczenko, he argues that fast food is the main reason why so many teenagers are suffering from obesity in United States. He explains that many companies will use advertisements to deceive customers. For example, a company’s website offers a chicken salad with less than four hundred calories per serving; however, they don’t label everything that the salad has In the first label. They will use separate labels in the products that the salad has on it, so the costumer gets confused and thinks that he is actually eating a four hundred calories salad that is "healthy". However, he is actually eating a seven or more hundred calories meal.
Most americans are not even aware of the harm that they are doing to their bodies most are just trying to get a quick bite to eat so they can avoid cooking or eating leftovers from the night before. The question should not be, “does fast food deserve a warning label?” it should be, “how many labels should there be on fast
Food companies jump through meticulous hoops just for the reason of withholding nutritional information from their customers. “These companies fight, tooth and nail, against labeling. The fast food industry fought against giving you the calorie information. They fought against telling you if there is trans-fat in your food. The meat packing industry for years prevented country-of-origin labeling.
Unfortunately, this is the position numerous Americans find themselves in today. David Zinczenko’s essay, Don’t Blame the Eater, provides insight into the issues associated with mainstream fast food ease of access and cost leading to overconsumption such as improperly labeled and hidden nutrition information and incorrect serving suggestions and the justification for placing blame upon big box companies for the
The labels we see in our foods at grocery stores are not honest. The big companies put information that will make customers buy their product. In the essay “Don’t Blame the Eater”, written by David Zinczenko focuses on how bad customers are being informed about the food they consume. Zinczenko states “They would do well to protect themselves, and their customers, by providing the nutrition information people need to make informed choices about their products. Without such warnings we’ll see more sick, obese children and more angry, litigious parents,” (464).
The government is making improvements on food labels to make comparing to the competition and nutrition easier I. The government enforcing more rules to prevent childhood obesity by limiting sugar in products is a positive factor for our company because we are reformulating our cereals with their regulations. This could help our sales if we formulate with healthy alternatives because many mothers especially above the age of 40 care about health factors. This will help our consumers make more health-conscious decisions. II.
My opinion about the food industry is that it full of lies that help large corporation to make more money no matter how the animals much suffer. Also they don’t care about the health of people neither because the government lays on the labels of the food that people has consumed. People have to know “how ethical arguments” work and to find the proof of the arguments. For example on of the argument is that “actions can be justified by small consequences. This could be describing as the labels changing into the consumer choice of product that they want to buy.
You can use the official nutrition labels to discover the amounts of calories, fat, sodium, and sugar in each option and then select the one that is healthiest.” This means that despite labels on packaging claiming the product to be healthy, the product may have ingredients like high fat or sodium. The evidence shown proves that one way the author supported his claim was showing that nutrition labels give valuable information. Another way that the author supports his claim is by giving examples of how a nutrition label can help people make healthier choices about their food. In the passage, it talks about how nutrition labels can show the unhealthy and harmful ingredients in a product that are bad for you.
It is clear that these labeling tactics need to be changed. One reason the food labels need to be made differently is that there are people all over the world without any food, and we go around throwing away good food because of a few unneeded numbers! It’s also a money waster for us, too. In the passage “The Dating Game: Demystifying Food Expiration Dates to Reduce Food Waste,” in paragraph 7, Leib states that “The average American household loses $1560 annually by purchasing food they end up throwing away.” This shows that a lot of food goes uneaten.
“‘Maybe ever’body in the whole damn world is scared of each other’”(Steinbeck 35). The story Of Mice and Men starts with two characters named George and Lennie. George and Lennie are trying to get their dream of getting their own place and working when they want. On their way to their dream, they need to work at a ranch and stay at a bunkhouse for a bit to get money. They meet Crooks and Candy at the ranch, who wants to join their dream.
Should people enforce the labeling law? Have you ever wondered how many calories are in your food? The answer for most people would most likely be no, people don’t really want to worry about what they are eating and are going to get it anyway. A labeling law is a legally required tag or label on new items showing you how many calories the item has. People use the labeling law so they can see how many calories a food item has.
Throughout my research for my argumentative essay, I have come to a conclusion that labels on foods are confusing for most people, they are not clear enough and they make people second guess what they are buying. This problem has caused people to have real life issues and has caused this world to make some problems even bigger. I want these sources to help me argue that this is a big issue and that there is way to fix it. My research goals are to find sources that will provide the meaning of each words on the labels, discuss what problems these labels cause such as people to ruining their healthy lifestyle, causing people to have trouble finding out if they are allergic to the food, and causing people to waste more food. I also want to find
Accurate, easy-to read and scientifically valid nutrition and health information on food labels is an essential component of a comprehensive public health strategy to help consumers improve their diets and reduce the risk of diet-related diseases. Consumers often compare prices of food items in the grocery store to choose the best value for their money but comparing their purchases using a comprehensive food label can help make the best choices for their health. That is what makes food labeling a public health issue – inadequate food labels may lead to poor quality food choices. Indeed today food labels could not confidently be referred to as accurate, easy-to read and containing scientifically valid nutrition and all necessary health information. They are often referred to as misleading, containing flawed or inaccurate information and sometimes very difficult to understand by various health specialists.
There are very few downsides and very many upsides to why there should be fast food warning labels. Fast food warning labels will make it very convenient to know about fast food items; it will benefit the companies themselves; and finally, it will help reduce obesity, obesity-related illnesses, and health costs. Fast food warning Labels will help make it very convenient to know about what's in the food that fast food chains serve. To many people, reading the nutrition facts and the ingredients list may be difficult, as many times companies try to hide the cons of their food by making the print on the nutrition facts and ingredient lists very small, however some people were never taught about how to read nutrition facts and ingredient lists in the first place. In 2006, a study(The Nutrition Label
Introduction: As an educator, I believe my role is to develop skills as important as the ones we use to read, write and calculate. These skills are social skills. My research hopes to explore using critical thinking to teach children to manage new social experiences. Freire expresses that ‘Critical thinking contrasts with naive thinking’ when he refers to its role in dialogue, communication and true education.
