He was very competitive and earned the reputation of being a “cut-throat” business man.

The Lancaster Turnpike proved to be a highly successful venture, returning as high as 15 percent annual dividends to its stockholders. The Cumberland Road stretched from cumberland, in western Maryland, to Vandalia, in Illinois, a distance of 591 miles.

After reading this week’s lesson I came to realize that the current highway funding structure plays a big role in transportation policies through subsidy programs for the federal and state governments. Pros: Motor fuel taxes have been the most important revenue mechanism for highway programs at the Federal and state levels.
As everything has its background, Texas transportation has it too. According to Calvin Jillson, is not new that the infrastructures in the state aren’t on good conditions. In the middle eighteen, Texas was also struggling with their roads. Cal Jillson points out how the people like the army, travelers, farmers, etc. reacted to the state road condition. They all reported their concern for the lack of well-marked roads.
Can you imagine living in the 20th century without any roads, railroads, and canals when trying to travel somewhere? Around 50 years before the American Civil War started, the Americans nation was blessed with a so-called "transportation revolution." This revolution in the transportation methods drastically changed the way in which the Americans and their belongings journeyed across their massive new continent. Prior to the revolution, transportations and traveling were made mostly over rivers, or on wagons dragged by imported horses on bad country roads, which was both dangerous and slow. Transportation Revolution The transportation revolution is believed to have begun in 1807 when the government seemed it was going to become active in growing infrastructure. The treasury secretary, at the time, Albert Gallatin was asked to develop “a plan for the application of such means as are within the power of Congress, to the purpose of opening roads and making canals” (W&R). This plan was not to happen and throughout this revolution the government was only responsible for a few projects. Without much government aid, entrepreneurs took matters into their own hands, creating competition.

To begin, the railroads played a very important role in improving transportation and communication, in ways that canals and steamboats could not. First, railways created quicker travel for the transportation of food and goods. Due to this, the cost of these goods dropped. The railroads also ended at docks, which allowed the United States to participate in the international trade with countries such as: Asia and South America. Next, the travel of people was made much faster by railroad than other modes of transportation.

Croatia has a population of 4.68 million, and ethnic Croats consist of 85 percent of whole population. 11.5 percent of total population was ethnic Serbs and they constituted local minority groups in the districts. Despite the benefits it brought to the U.S the transcontinental railroad had some negative consequences. Most, starkly they forced relocation of Native Americans from their lands resulted in widespread destruction of Native American culture.

In order to gain insight, I conducted an interview and job shadowing with Mr. John Davis from the University of Sacramento.
If you always wanted to take the subway and not drive and pay for the garage all the time you would save a plethora of money. The subway is a very crazy idea and most likely will never work. Yet, it would limit how many people are worry about parking. College students would love this since they do not have to worry about all the traffic, finding a parking space, and gas money. College students are very lazy and just want to get from point A to point B and the less they have to do the better.
