Shirley Cole (Family Court Counselor) prepared a report to the court tin May 2007 which included referring Rebecca for an addiction assessment. As a result of the abuse, Rita has thought about suicide numerous times. She has even fantasized about killing her husband. Although she does not have a plan for either, her thoughts are potential legal concerns. Rita engages in illegal drugs and large amounts of alcohol, which significantly interferes with her social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning. These substances may impair her judgment while on the job and can be a legal concern; she is a business owner in charge of making decisions which require her to be in sound mind.
Some people who were convicted for selling drugs were supporting their drugs habits. She suggested they would be better suited in a treatment facility. I concur, as a substance abuse counselor, I encountered many drug dealing addicts. It’s important for them to gain sobriety and develop positive coping skills. They cannot accomplished this by sitting in jail because many jails are ill-equipped for treatment.

Careful selection on these instruments may be influenced by cultural, race, and gender (Van Wormer & Davis, 2018). Furthermore, counselors or other clinicians would also need to consider the reliability and validity these instruments prior to selection.
To many people who have not had a personal encounter with drunk drivers, the issue may not hit as hard as people who have had an encounter. Drinking and driving occurs way too frequently and without proper legislations regulating the issue, the general public suffers from the consequences of one’s negligent and selfish act: to drink and drive.
