The story “Unemployed and Working” from Simon Wykoff shows his conventional thinking by writing to influence readers to reimagine the stereotype of the “lazy bum” commonly given to homeless people. The author explains how homeless people work to accomplish the most important job to humans, surviving, which can be just as difficult as a conventional job. Wykoff gives his own personal testimony about the life of his homeless father and the daily struggles and process he went through. He first explains his father’s decision of not using services for homeless people, and how he coped with that while living on the streets. He then goes through each task done by his father in a day, starting with saying how there was often a good chance that something of his was stolen while he was asleep and elaborating on how his father would buy himself food if he had made enough money, but if he had not then he would have to check dumpsters to satisfy his hunger.

Author and writer Jerusalem Demsas wrote, “The Obvious Answer to Homelessness,” in December of 2022. She argues that the most obvious and underlying answer to homelessness is housing scarcity and a shortage of affordable housing. She begins her essay with rhetorical questions and reputable facts and goes into using an analogy to help readers understand her claim and argument. Demsas successfully uses emotional appeals to win over readers at the beginning of the article while also establishing her credibility and trustworthiness

There are many aspects must which should be considered in the argument of whether we, the American people and higher class, should help them or not; such as the ethical values of the situation from both the poor and those involved in helping, the cultural and social causes, and effects on their lives.
It is hard to imagine life as a homeless family. I hope that I’ll never have to move my family from shelter to shelter as some families must do every day. According to the essay “Homeless” by Anna Quindlen, we should take more time in our lives to see the pain that homelessness creates. I agree with Anna Quindlen’s assertion that a home is everything. Homelessness is a consequential issue affecting the lives of hundreds in almost every community. The artists Mike Luckovich and Joe Heller display this dilemma through their cartoons. They both utilize the set-up, emotional response of the cartoons and, mainly in Joe heller case, acknowledge the other issues they are a companion to homelessness. Both Heller and Luckovich are trying to persuade the audience that the tragedy of homelessness has plagued the lives of millions all throughout the years. Their cartoons are attempting to raise awareness to stop this travesty.

Homelessness Homeless people are widely known in the United States, as much as in any other parts in the world, where it is also a common issue. The issue is so common that when people drive or even walk through the streets they see many homeless people with no roof, and no food. People often see other people like this no matter where they are at, giving them the thought of what if they were the ones going through that. Homelessness is a product of social inequalities. Karl Marx stated that the capitalist society produces two prominent classes which are in conflict with each other, bourgeoisie and proletariats. The bourgeoisie are the oppressors who own the means of production and the proletariats are the oppressed workers who labor for the bourgeoisie. Capitalism is distinguished not by privilege but instead by individuality of property ownership and that those who create the conditions of the oppressed group express this power in the form of laws that function to serve the bourgeoisie’s interests (Marx, 2004, p.129).

The issue of homelessness in America has been evident since the early 1600’s. Across the country men, women and children spend their nights on the streets not knowing when or if they will ever find a permanent home. States and federal officials or city councils have tried to alleviate or at least reduce the number of homeless over the last several decades at a city, state or national level but it continues to be an ongoing problem.
