In high school Lyle Alzado was an awesome football player, however, in college he was afraid, that he was not big enough to be successful. Thus in 1969 he started taking anabolic steroids, both orally and by injection. His size did subsequently increase, and over the next fifteen years he played professional football for three teams; the Denver Broncos, the Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Raiders. However, Alzado paid a terrible price for this success his brain was effected. He began to have terrible mood swings.

If we say something bad about the government, then we are in big trouble. In America we can say what we want. We have rights in America. We have equal rights here in America. But in some other country like in Ethiopia, we do not many rights as we do here.

We are very fortunate to live in a country where we have rights and are protected. Many countries live under a dictator, where one rules the rest and threatens them. The residents have to be cautious about what they say and when they say it. For example, in Korea, one cannot talk bad about the dictator without being sentenced to death.

Around the world, every country is unique in its own way, although they are diverse, there is one thing that every country undeniably has that makes the citizens all similar- censorship. The main principles of the First Amendment are freedom of speech, religion, and press. The First Amendment also allows citizens to protest peacefully and petition. Many immigrants come to the United States to live the “American Dream”. However, this idea overshadows how similar our countries really are.
This is true as the country is seen as a land of freedom, especially with the citizens enjoying a great amount of rights. Indeed, the First Amendment states that, “Congress shall make no law... abridging freedom of speech,” (Bill of Rights, 1st Amendment) indicating that Americans have the opportunity to express their ideas. 1.0 INTRODUCTION In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), freedom of speech falls under the Article 19 which is the freedom of opinion and expression. It protects one’s freedom ‘to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers’ (The United Nations, 1948). Article 19(2) of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) adds that the freedom of expression could be ‘either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice’. Besides being an individual’s fundamental liberty of expression, Santa Clara University School of Law Professor Russell W. Galloway (1991) states that free speech is the ‘matrix of all other freedoms’.
