In the reading of Dave Berry’s,” Guys VS. Men,” Berry states, “That there’s another way to look at males: not as aggressive macho dominators; not a sensitive, liberated, hugging drummers, but as guys” (915). What I interpreted from this statement is that Berry is attempting to show that there is a medium between define a guy from a man. Berry explains this in his reading. The three reasons that Berry explains is Guys like neat stuff, Guys like a really pointless challenge, and Guys don’t have a rigid and well defined moral code.

The problem with situations is these guys aren’t very young. They are all what I would call middle age guys, and none of them really have any physically active backgrounds to even be capable of doing this. Berry states, “These guys have no need to run the forty yard dash” (918). An example of this I have is my dad’s group of friends. They are always challenging each other to see who dunk over a trash can or who can throw a football the farthest. When all of them together are attempting these stupid challenges someone always winds up hurt. Yes, this can be very comical at some points, but it’s like the saying goes, “It’s all fun and games, until someone gets hurt. “ Another example of this is my friend Wayne. Wayne growing up during high school was the type of guy who always followed the rules. Until, he got to college. When he started college it’s like his wild child side came out. One bet Wayne did was when him and a group of friends challenged each other to see who would jump of the roof on a trampoline. The first two jumped and Wayne followed with no problems. Then another when and there was a big problem. The spring on the trampoline broke and his friend hit the ground. In this situation anyone could guess what happened.
