This passage is called the Great Commissioning of the disciples. It is the final instructive word from Jesus to His church. Some context is: Jesus had just risen. The Jews had killed Him and Jesus’ commission is mainly given to the disciples, but it applies to all of the church. Jesus gave this last message before he ascended into Heaven.
Jesus says to his disciples that “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” implying that his authority is world-wide and absolute so there commission was also world-wide.
