Lesson 1, finding the area of different shapes, differed greatly in classifications assigned to the task outlined in the study. Consistent with all other lesson plans in the classifications A and E located in the lower-level demands, the students’ were assigned a task that required memorization of the formula used for calculating the area of a rectangle (p. 49). Unlike the previous nine lessons, the students task of “finding different ways to find the area of different rectangular-based shapes” (p. 50) involved problem-solving skills.
What are the parts of a rectangle? 4. Ask the students “Do they have a curve? What kind of lines do they have? How many sides does it have?
There is a controversial and intimidating proposal that looms over the heads of not only the many inhabitants of the northwestern area of Minnesota, but as well as the entirety of the state. Polymet wishes to invest a large chunk of money into the construction of a sulfide mine. Upon first consideration, this seems like a fantastic idea. As it would provide jobs, give Minnesota new opportunities, and boost the economy of the towns and cities surrounding the mine site. However, when digging deeper, it is easily said that the negative effects outweigh the positive ones.
Reflection. Projection. 4. Explain why the image is projected upside down.

In the story of Antigone, Antigone’s uncle, Creon, is the king of Thebes who forbids the burial of his nephew, Polyneikes. Polyneikes is Antigone’s brother who went to war with one of their brothers. The fight between the two men ended in death for both, at which was based on who was justified by the state. The brother who fought Polyneikes was awarded a proper burial while Polyneikes was left as a food source for dogs and vultures. Antigone disliked the fact that Polyneikes was not awarded a proper burial because it is her brother.
Professor Schwab’s interpretation of Antigone’s motives differ significantly from what most conventional scholars think of the text. Her belief is that Antigone’s motive for burying her brother Polyneices was not motivated by familial love but is instead motivated by a possible sexual desire for her brother. Schwab points to philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel as evidence of the conventional Antigone scholar. Schwab claims that Hegel idealizes the brother/sister relationship as one that is immune from desire, when in fact, this does not seem to be the case with Antigone. According to Schwab, Antigone’s love for her brother seems to be more than strictly familial.
The learning objective for lesson one is, “students will be able to identify and draw points, lines, line segments, rays, and angles.” The learning objective for lesson two is, “students will be able to classify triangles by the size of their angles.” The learning objective for lesson three is, “students will be able to identify and draw parallel lines and perpendicular lines.” The learning objective for lesson four is, “students will be able to sort and classify quadrilaterals.”
For over 200 thousand of years civilizations have looked upon the night sky attempting to comprehend the endless sea of bright lights that stood before them .However, with the recent technological and astronomical advancements, scientist have been able analysis, and prove some of the world's greatest mysteries (ranging from “sustaining life on other planets”, to “what may lay beyond our known universe”). This new information has greatly impacted society, by allowing everyday civilians to gain a greater understanding of the vast world around them. However none of this would have been possible, if not for the work of Johannes Kepler, pioneering the way for many of great astronomy related discoveries. Kepler is often considered the father of modern
Two brothers named Eteocles and Polyneices are fighting over who should be the ruler of Thebes due to the fact they both want to be king. However, during battle, both brothers are killed on the battlefield; resulting in neither of them being king. The new ruler, Creon, who also happens to be their uncle, declares Eteocles to be buried and to leave Polyneices on the field for ‘dishonoring’ Thebes. Antigone and Ismene, sisters to Eteocles and Polyneices, are arguing over whether or not they should defy what their Uncle Creon has ordered and bury him anyway. Antigone declares they should because it’s the right thing to do; whereas, Ismene is terrified of going against Creon since he stated anyone who defied the law will be punished by death.
1. There is a need for studentsto understand and be able to construct geometric figures using a compass and straightedge. By Hayley McMillon 2. ~Summary ~There is a need for students to understand and be able to construct geometric figures using astraightedge and compass. I chose to defend this argument, because I believe that studentsshould be able to understand and make constructions using a compass, straightedge, andpaper.
Reading this for the first time, I thought that this definition only works when discussing orbits. However, the more I thought about this definition, the more I saw how versatile it was. I looked up all the possible meanings of revolving and came up with “to have a main point.” This how I formed my definition of revolution: “The action or motion of a main point.”
According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, appearance is defined as “the way that someone or something looks.” The same dictionary defines reality “as the true situation that exists.” This poses the question of whether the way things appear is how they truly exist, and it is along that line that René Descartes wrote his Meditations on First Philosophy. Over 350 years after Descartes published his famous discourse, the American science fiction film, The Matrix, premiered, and pondered a similar question of the difference between appearance and reality. The purpose of this essay is twofold: firstly to evaluate and analyze the concepts of appearance and reality as presented in both the Meditations and The Matrix, and secondly to convince
“…the way that we learn from an experience in order to Understand and develop practice” (Jasper 2003) Reflection is a way of going through thoughts and feelings about an incident, or a challenging day and gives us a chance
In order to structure my reflection essay in a practical approach I have decided to use Gibbs Reflective Cycle (1988) model of reflection. This model has been selected as it helps to present the reflection in an easy and understandable manner, so the issues can be evaluated through different angles (Jasper, 2003:78). John 's (1995) model provides a good
