Sociology is a necessity for all human life on earth. Sociology is the key to how we, as humans, interact with each other and live our daily lives. “Sociology is the science of society, social institutions, and social relationships (Merriam Webster’s online dictionary).” We learn every day from the four key components of socialization. Family, peers, schools and mass media all play a part in each individual’s way of learning the norms in a society. Sociology starts for me with my family. Family has always been a key factor to the decisions that I have chosen in my life. From a very young age, I’ve been taught about religion, what’s wrong from right, manners and making priorities. Before I started to attend school, my only form of interacting with others was interacting with my family. My family was the only group that I had ever quite learned from. School had a very big impact on my life, from riding on the bus, to sitting in the classroom watching somebody actually teach me new things. I was always taught by family not to curse, but when I was in middle school, riding the bus, cursing was very common. Even though I did not want to curse, because I was always taught it was not right, I started to because of the fact that it was the cool thing to do and my classmates were doing it. In school, I was taught about the many forms of religion, and the many ways that life, technology, and language has changed over the years of human existence. Romantic movies make love and marriage seem so great, and keeps me searching for that Hollywood type of love. While the action movies just bring out my athletic outlaw side and make me want to go against authority. Also makes me want a really fast car. Other than just the movies, the news media plays a big part in my life. Watching the news and seeing terrorists murder my fellow citizens made me want to join the military. Although I was not able to join the military because of a medical condition, I still tried. I wanted to join because of the fact that the news was encouraging everyone that we needed to stand up and protect what is ours. The news media has informed me of the amount of crime in the world, and justice being served to the individuals who commit the crimes, and therefore makes me not want to commit any serious
