The American dream is represented in The Great Gatsby in many different ways, in this essay I will explore almost all the different ways it is represented. I think the American dream is whatever you think it should be, I think the American dream is you living your life how you want it to be. I’ll be exploring how each of the characters sees the American dream. Some people think the American dream is having a family or making money, but I think that the American dream is whatever you want it to be. It can be making as much money as possible, living peacefully, living on a farm and raising animals and growing crops, or even raising a family. Whatever your dream is, it can be your American dream. I wish to be kinder and nicer to people because I understand that most people do things without knowing that they’re doing them, and that they are just unaware of the surroundings and situations. The American dream is shown a lot through The Great Gatsby, and I’ll be going through as many characters and their dreams. The American dream is shown through Gatsby by how much money he has and what his wishes are. He wishes he could have Daisy and move in with her and her parents and live a somewhat secluded and normal life, but he can’t get what he wants because he’s stuck in the past. Even when Nick tries to get him out, he’s still very arrogant about his decisions with Daisy. Can't repeat the past? he cried incredulously, he said. Why of course you
