Who was Edgar allan Poe? Edgar Allan Poe was born on January 19, 1809. Edgar Allan Poe was a struggling writer and at one point in his life he had no money. Also,he had no skills and he had to join the army in 1827 when he was 17. He had a rough beginning having no money or skills. In 1831, Edgar Allan Poe was struggling because one time he went to New York City where he had some of his poetry published but when he submitted stories to magazine authors and they were all rejected. For example, when the narrator talks to the raven the raven keeps repeating nevermore and on and on the narrator slowly goes insane. The narrator wanted to hear the truth but keeps denying it. This holds a lot of meaning because it describes Edgar Allan Poe in a way. The Masque of the Red Death was another one of his great stories that reflects life and death with a plague that has been going on in his time. During this time a lot of people are dieing from the disease and this story begins with a wealthy prince decides to lock down his house from the plague that is going on.This story reflects on paranoia of being killed of the disease and avoiding the “black” room because it is the color for death. The Masque of the Red Death reflects on Edgar Allan Poe and how he is sometimes paranoid with things going on in his life. When he writes his stories he writes them in a different perspective. In the Masque The Red Death he describes the main character and the people's feelings and in Tell Tale Heart the story is like a journal that the character wrote when he went through the events.
