By reading the Preface and the Introduction I learned several new things about how to improve your skill in becoming a better writer. I was able to compare high school English techniques I would most likely experience in college English. One of the things I learned while reading was there is no teaching tool guaranteed to help the students promote precise thoughts. Comparing to high school, my teachers didn’t enforce a tool to help generate thoughts for each student to think alike in a subject because everyone thoughts are different. Another thing I learned was the template. The book uses a writing template called “They Say I Say”. What I took in was how the format helps you by giving you a place to start. The format also helps you set up an argument and as well finish the argument strong, its very useful. “They Say I Say” comes in place when engaging in a conversation with others. It says to makes the individual a active writer by giving them something well to respond to. In high school it wasn’t new to me engaging in a conversation was actually involved in templates. The way they taught us about templates was to connect engaging conversations to your writing.
