To elaborate, on June 26, 2015, the US supreme court made gay marriage legal in all 50 states. As a state that is strongly fixed on both individualistic and more specifically, traditionalistic values, the platform of these political cultures in Texas were challenged through means of media. A culture that is based on traditional values strives away from changes and is resistant to accepting new laws, such as the legalization of same sex marriage. However, pop culture and widespread media shared amongst the citizens of the state of Texas, opened and shaped the debate over this issue. In fact, “scholars agree that the news media have become more attentive to and supportive of lesbian and gay rights over time.”
Same-sex marriage has a near even split of people that are for or against it. This split is seen clearly in the Obergefell v. Hodges case in the U.S. Supreme Court, where the decision was 5 to 4. The majority in this case chose to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states. This decision brought a lot of controversy from the U.S. citizens, and the controversy came from the question if the Supreme Court decision in Obergefell was the correct decision for America. The answer is no.

When debating the legalization of same sex marriage, religious reasoning and accusations of bigotry often provoke obstinance. Instead of reiterating those arguments, William J. Bennett, a prominent cultural conservative, former secretary of education, and author of The Book of Virtues, focuses on societal effects in his op-ed article, “Against Gay Marriage.” Though Bennett’s piece conveys partiality, it also attempts to discuss this issue scrupulously to ensure readers will consider his argument and perhaps accept his implications. While some of Bennett’s word choices convey tolerance of the gay community, his rhetoric incites readers to accept that preserving society requires marginalizing homosexuals.
The author Benjamin Shingler from CBC news addresses the article in a non-bias way. Shingler, expresses the articles point of view by stating details relating to a controversial bill passed in Quebec recently that targets certain ethnicities groups. Throughout, my essay I will be discussing the issues in the article as to why it relates to discriminatory issues in Canada. Moreover, the issues I will be talking about relating to discrimination will be how the articles topic goes beyond Canada’s concept of diversity, targets certain ethnicity groups, and restricts individual’s rights.
While interpreters and translators can work in any field, they frequently come across a sea of doubts when deciding what word to use, therefore, building a glossary on specialized terms can make our jobs more convenient. Even though this is a time-consuming task, at the end this will pay off. As my area of interest is interpreting in immigration settings, I have chosen to build a glossary on immigration based on the book from the series Current Controversies Immigration, by Debra A. Miller, published by Cynthia Sanner. Although immigration rates have decreased over the years, there is still a huge communication barrier between LEP (Limited English Proficiency) people and immigration staff, thus demanding the need for interpreters and translators.

Thomas (1776) What founding father Thomas Jefferson meant by this is that no matter who you are or what your economic status is, you still have the right to be happy and live life to the fullest. At the time he wrote this, it held little value because there were hundreds of thousands of slaves but in today 's time, it holds more value than ever. America has shifted its views more than any other country in a short amount of time than any other country in history.
The word equal means, “a person or thing considered to be the same as another in status or equality.” Not many people notice, but to this day, nationwide, everyone is still not viewed equally. We are allowed to voice our opinions. There is separation of church and state, which means that there can’t be laws made about religion. Recently, gay marriage was made legal in all fifty states. The Republican and Democratic Parties in the United States have wide differences in their viewpoints and beliefs regarding same-sex marriage and the rights of transgender persons. A Democrat is typically known as being more liberal viewpoints on social issues and social services. A Republican’s beliefs are based more on limited government and having a strong foreign policy. Basically Republicans are seen as “conservative” and Democrats are seen as “liberal”. Two of the most provocative issues in today’s world are the viewpoints and strong beliefs regarding same-sex marriage and transgender people’s rights.

These groups fought for different rights, but they still had a similar struggle to the original movement. One of these groups is the Gay Rights Movement. The comparison between the black civil rights movement and the gay civil rights movement is “typically a sensitive subject, even among liberals” (Williams). Some people believe that it is unfair to compare a fight for marriage to a fight to gain equality in every aspect.

The main reason is you’ll offend a bunch of people and they’ll do whatever it takes to shut you up.
Fighting as an act of denigration is one of the activities that d-evolves humanity into animals. Sometimes fight to survive is justified, just in order to protect our life, and people who care.
