Along the journey, their imagination grows as they venture further into the fictional land of Terabithia. I absolutely adore this book and I would happily recommend it to anyone who wants comfort and a good read. The story starts off with Leslie Burke moving into her new house in a rural area of the South and happens to be neighbours with Jess Aarons. They attend the same school and we slowly learn about their interests. At first, Jess seems distance but ends up standing up for Leslie during a running race. The narrative convention of setting helps us understand how various places affected Jess and Leslie everyday. School was a place where Jess and Leslie were faced with bullies. One of the major one being Janice Avery who for her own satisfaction made everyone else's day miserable. Jess and Leslie could not stand up to Janice at first but Terabithia was a place which gave them the confidence and strength they needed to do so.
