How Much of Life can we Control
Some people believe that they can take control of their lives and and create their own destiny, while others believe there is a natural force that decides what our destiny will be. In the texts Macbeth and The Iraq War Blog, authors Shakespeare and Faiza Al-Alajir present the theme of not having control over one's destiny, through tragedy and history.
The author of Macbeth, Shakespeare believes that people do not have total control in their lives. Shakespeare believes in destiny. In Macbeth one of the witches says, ¨All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter” (Shakespeare 51). Macbeth is given a prophecy that he will become king. It is his destiny that he can not change. Shakespeare also believes that people can control how they get to their destiny. Macbeth says, ¨I am settled, and bend up each corporal agent to this terrible feat¨ (Shakespeare 88-89). She believes that everything happens because God wants it to happens, and that everything happens for a reason. Al-Alajir shows that people do not have any control in their lives. Everyone has a destiny that has been set by God, and everything that leads up to that fate is done by the power of God. Although, someone may say that God does not exist, they are wrong. Everyone has a destiny that is set. If God does not exist who controls what happens to you and everyone else. Who else would give people their destiny´s and help them go in the right direction.
